1 competitive fight out of 9 on the card, if that r-by-r is accurate.
I expect a full report from TFK on this matter.

The only fight that seemed competitive on paper was the silva fight. Cro Cop and Rampage had it easier, they were supossed to look good in their debut, and they did.

Silva's fight was competitive, and so was Smith/Cote.
Don't know about the undercard bouts.
The huerta fight was funny, it lasted like 25 seconds.

The funny part was that Huerta's opponent tried to fake being kneed in the head while down, and got totally busted during the post fight interview, it made him look like even more of a bitch.

So the Pride guys won every fight?
UFC is so succesful, because it is basically "American Idol" for MMA fighters.

Right. Pride is head and shoulder above UFC in terms of talent. Even silva didn't had a winning record in pride, he left with 3 wins and 2 losses. It's not even comparable.

Yeah, but unfortunately, Pride also has a lot more BS around it. Corruption, drugs, shady deals, protection. The UFC isn't up to their standard in terms of their roster, but their fights generally involve more openess and transparency about them.
Pride's scoring system is completely open for abuse.

Jackson's other threat would be lidell and sobral
Silva's would be frankiln
Cro Cop's would be silva and arlosvki
we're not talking world class here, in spite of franklin and lidell, and they got beat by their pride counterparts

So? Dude, my post was PRO Pride as far as the talent is concerned. What I mentioned, was simply the management of each organisation. Pride is fishy.

3-2 is NOT a winning record? :nixweiss:
No wonder I barely passed math in hs.
What about Heath Herring. He couldn't even beat an unproven UFC "prospect".

BTW, Silva's main threat is probably Nate Marquardt. And Franklin has to get passed the athlete if he wants another shot at Silva.

Herring is crap, always been
Nobody was excited for his UFC campaign.
let's see who are the first UFC fighters to beat cro cop, silva and jackson.
If fedor, shogun and the other megastars from pride decide to come over to UFC, they would most likely reign supreme. Just watch as cro cop handles silva like a pro.

Shogun already has a stoppage loss to a UFC fighter. :nixweiss:

If you aren't going to consider Babalu a UFC fighter, how many fighters are actually UFC guys? Sylvia? Hughes? GSP? Liddell?
And no. Coleman picked up Shogun and was going to dump him on his head. He was trying to damage him. It was unfortunate, but hurting your opponent in a fight is never an accident.

Coleman might have won on paper, but he didn't beat shogun. Those guys you mentioned made their name on UFC.

Silva was a 5-1 fav, Jackson a 7-1 fav and Cro Cop was a 14-1 fav. They were all expected to win. How did Heath Herring do in his debut? it's a silly argument anyways. They are signed with UFC now, they aren't PRIDE fighters anymore.

This argument is pointless because the UFC will most likely buy Pride this year.

BTW, Silva's main threat is probably Nate Marquardt. And Franklin has to get passed the athlete if he wants another shot at Silva.good call Gatti....Nate is a solid fighter, and may be able to give Sliva a good scrap....but Silva's main threat may just be the man the UFC never wants to see back, Matt Lindland

BTW, Tyson Griffin and the other young kid was a great fight....How Kid B hung on at the end for that knee bar was crazy.....Griffin maybe should have tried to turn it to a heel hook

The real question, is can Matt do that and not knock himself out?

yes, because he's a world class wrestler. Silva got taken down by Lutter a few times, and Lindland is a better wrestler than Lutter.
Isn't he fighting Fedor next?

well, he was built up as a potential challenger for the HW belt in the UFC, and basically got dominated by some Irish wrestler guy.
Until Pride starts testing for steroids, comparing the two is pointless.
Oh, and how about Wandy's stellar 1-2 record in UFC?

Thats a bit stupid. Wandy was a pretty average fighter, period at that point. He'd shown as much in Brazil before hand.
The point about steroids is valid though.

so he fights at hw and at mw? :nixweiss:nah, i dont think its something he's made a habit of....Lindland is a competetive guy, he has to be to accomplish what he did in the world of wrestling, so I'm sure when someone says, "hey, you wanna test yourself against the best in the world?", Matt jumps at it.....He's got a decent size frame....he's no bodybuilder by any stretch, but his technique alone will keep him from getting manhandled in close
