Tough. Olivares in 3.

This isn't a fair matchup because Olivares was really at his best at 118, while he was only a footnote at 126. His power and accuracy would give Blockhead problems; he did have enough to stop Marquez early, but if Marquez survives, he might get a decision.

Marquez has to box smart in the early going or else Olivares will work him over with that hook and hurt him. Still, Ruben didn't exactly have a spartan work ethic in the 126 days, so he could show up disinterested and sleepy

He also had a tendency to fall apart or quit late in tough fights.
Marquez TKO 10.

Fagquez never won a big fight in his life. MAB was the only one he beat and by the time they fought MAB was shot as fuck. Olivares in 1 or 2 by brutal KO.

And that proves he can't beat Olivares?
How many big fights did Chucho Castillo, Rafael Herrera, Art Hafey, David Kotey, Jose Cervantes, or even Danny Lopez win?

Fagquez can't sniff Cervantes or Lopez's jockstrap. He's a bum.

What the hell are you talking about?? He beats fighters of Jose Cervantes' caliber (or lack thereof, I should say) all the time.

...this isn't fair; it's a match-up in which the current fighter can beat the legend from the past that i've built up in my mind as being 10 times better than he was...and who i like to pretend i personally knew and with whom i crusade against the current crop of fighters who are all crap compared to the old-timers...
so how is it not fair? it is what it is. it's a question of whether a past his best, above his best weight Olivares could've beaten JMM. why is it not fair? the fact that you view it as unfair just exposes your nearly unconditional support for all fighters from the past...

It's not unfair. It's not an interesting topic because Robinson clearly wins. But it's not unfair. No.

It's fair because...? It's not competitive. It's not the least bit close.
Maybe Castillo vs Lennox Lewis?

what the hell is a fair match-up? in this forum? there's good match-ups - those that are interesting to discuss because the winner is in doubt - and then there's those that aren't - the ones wherein one fighter is much better than the other, or has huge advantages. there's no fairness.
it's a question of who beats whom. if you want to consider pointless match-ups like castillo/lewis, feel free. there's nothing unfair about it though. it is what it is.
point is, to view the discussion of a match-up, any match-up, as unfair just because one of the fighters isn't fighting under the best of circumstances implies a certain agenda and unwillingness to deal in facts.

Castillo v Robinson is as unfair as Lewis v Castillo. The outcome of both is unquestionable.
