Let’s say he gets hired at Showtime, How would that play out? I can't picture him with Steve Farwood. But it could give Showtime a familiar voice. I think Larry can speak his mind more in showtime. Wald would never fight for Showtime, so Larry can’t cheerlead. Add the fact that Max will suck at HBO, this could help Showtime.

Apparently they didn't retire his Jim Beam, Max Kellerman was spouting off some trash that sounded remniscent of Larry

Picture him with Steve Farhood?
There's no way Merchant would be doing Shobox.

I was glad when hearing the news of Merchant's time with HBO coming to an end. When I heard Kellerman was the one replacing him, I went !
Kellerman is a f*cking idiot, a loudmouth fan who read a few books. It's a bad move by HBO. They might as well just keep Merchant.

Larry Merchent and Steve Farwood. Priceless shit dog. Reminds me of those white trash tracksuits that used to say "Burk Simson" on them.

you know it really wouldn't be a bad idea. I couldn't see Larry doing Shobox neither, but I could see him hire on to just take the championship fights. And what better way to give HBO the finger:flip: I'm not really a Merchant fan neither, I just hate HBO

Showtime can do without Al. Bring on Steve, Larry and Kevin Kelly as boxer analyst. Larry was HBO, Lampley, Stewart and Max suck monkey balls. Lenox is ok but not better then Forman.

Maybe it's me, but I just don't think Kelley is that good behind the mic. He was not very good during his KO Nation...or some of the CSI boxing cards I've seen.
This reminds me, I was watching Kelley on "In this Corner" a week or two ago, and he was going over technique in the ring and instead of giving insight he just ended up repeating the same thing about 4-5 times, each time with just a slight modification on what he'd just said...that's kind of how he is calling fight.
Foreman was prepared for announcing by being a preacher and salesman (one in the same)...even a wordsmith that came with "pugilist specialist" can't compete with that training.

I don't want James Brown back in any other role, other than his old hosting duties. He's never struck me as a guy who has much of a clue about boxing, but he does have a great camera manor and speaking voice.

I'll disagree with you on that, though I'll agree with your earlier point that Jones was better than both...and one of the best former boxers I've heard behind the mic.
I liked Czyz, though, and I thought SRL wasn't bad.
When Roy wasn't talking about himself, he was very good, and I actually thought he toned down a bit after the Tarver knockout.

What the fuck are you talking about? What the fuck are you talking about? Is this the same Roy Jones that came out and said that Wladimir Klitschko could never fight from the downside?? Even Wladimir, who never says shit about anybody, had to come out and make fun of him after he TWICE failed to drag his ass up off the mat against guys like Tarver and Johnson. It was Wlad who dragged his ass up off the mat 3 times to as good as secure the IBF belt vs Peter.
Roy suceeded in offending the most un-offendable mother in the sport. Y'all musta 4got that shit too.
Now...I'll give Roy credit for his comments about Vitali during the Williams fight....but on Wladimir he was BANG out of order. And I'll hazard that it wasn't the first time either.

I'll take your word about Kelly, I've never seen him "in this corner". I only tought he would make a good contribution because he's an honest guy. He was commentating about himself during the fight once, I tought he did pretty good. I guess its a little different talking about yourself then being behind the sceen and talking about another boxer.

Fast? Sorry, I know that people have increasingly less standards but I think a minimum standard for being a broadcaster is fluency in English. Insight? Roy could beat him, haha he don't want non of Roy.

Lennox sounds like somebody they pulled from the audience to speak on live TV that very minute. That is of course unless it's a heavyweight fight and we get to hear him bragging about how there hasnt' been a dominant heavyweight since he was at the top of the food chain.

Update from Kevin Iole:
Contrary to news stories in the New York Daily News, the Philadelphia Daily News and MaxBoxing.com stating Merchant would be replaced as the boxing analyst at HBO after Saturday's Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight, Greenburg insisted he is hopeful he can re-sign Merchant, 76, to a longer-term contract.
"We still have time and I want to keep him," Greenburg said, declining to discuss specifics. “"Larry is still throwing the 95 miles per hour fastball and hitting the corners. He's the soul of HBO boxing and he has been for 28 years, since the day I hired him.
"He's a fixture on this network and I'm his biggest champion. He's the closest thing that exists to Howard Cosell in sports television today."
"I don't need confirmation from Bob Raissman or Bernard Fernandez (of the Philadelphia Daily News) regarding anything about Larry, his work or his importance to this network," Greenburg said. "We're the ones who created Larry Merchant and gave him this platform. And we very much want to continue that relationship."
