Marvin Hagler was a brawler.
Fernando Vargas lost to Felix Trinidad simply because he chose to brawl instead of box.
Oscar De La Hoya's corner told him to run against Trinidad.

I don't feel like posting the million or so fights.
But {insert fight} was a robbery!!!
Sure there have been some outright ones like Holy-Lewis where you knew corruption had to be involved. It's just annoying to have the 'robbery' word thrown out after every single close fight.

that SRL was schooling Duran easily in the rematch. he was making it hard on Duran with all his movement, but it was still a close fight as of Duran's quiting.
that Mayweather dominated Castillo in the rematch. he performed better in the rematch than in the first fight by taking fewer chances and moving more, but in no way did he dominate Castillo.
that Corrales could've out-boxed Castillo if only he'd used his height.
that Trinidad could be beaten by anyone with a jab. i think that's totally unfair to Wright and Hopkins who did a whole helluva a lot more than just jab to beat Trinidad. Trinidad beat plenty of guys with good jabs, starting with ODH.
that Forrest is a grappler. Forrest had four fights against guys who just absolutely would not stop holding him (Raul Frank and Shane Mosley). that doesn't mean he's a grappler by trade (see Forrest/Mayorga I&II or Forrest/Quartey). Forrest is actually a pretty exciting fighter to watch so long as he's not fighting a guy who absolutely cannot deal with his power.
that Benitez/Duran was a one-sided schooling. Hardly. this is strictly a symptom of the I've-never-watched-the-fight-but-I've-read-the-print syndrome.

10 oz gloves make boxing less exciting.
a categorical statement like this is certainly a myth. but applied to the light-weight and junior welter-weight divisions? and even the welter-weight divisions? i think a pretty good case can be made that 10 oz gloves detract at least somewhat from boxing's excitement. how can you disagree?

You're right. I find myself skipping fights from 135-147 because of the gloves bullshit. No one is knocking anyone out with the changes.
What do you think about going back to non-padded 6oz gloves? :dunno:

Good ones. Leonard was frustrating Duran with his movement and taunting, but it was still a pretty competitive fight. I thought Mayweather won over Castillo in the rematch pretty clearly, but it was an ugly fight. Mayweather never really got into an offensive rhythm against Castillo in either fight.
Corrales was having problems from the outside against Castillo. I remember in the 9th when he tried to jab and got countered with a nice right hand. And the left hook that dropped him in the 10th was from the outside. Castillo would've given Chico hell no matter what style.
As for the Trinidad thing and jabs...well...didn't the two guys (Vargas, Joppy) that Tito beat right before he lost to Hopkins have solid jabs?

I hate it when people act like Foreman was dominating Ali before he got tired. People saying that De La Hoya "clearly sealed" the victory over Quartey in the 12th makes me want to puke. Also, when people say "all you had to do was stand up to Tyson and he'd crumble". Geez, you think these pro fighters, world class contenders, would be a little tougher than to be spelled by the magic wand of fear that Tyson waved.

you're a smot-ass. and no, i'm not a sadistic sicko like you seem to think. in fact, in the name of fighter safety i think there should be more knock-outs. not fewer. it's the lack of knock-outs that kill fighters. and a sure-fire way of having more knock-outs is to use 8 oz gloves, not 10 oz ones.

Dude I agree with you. Things that need to change.
1) Smaller gloves, maybe 6oz leather gloves with no padding on the knuckles
2) Back punching should be legalized since fighters like Fraud Gayweather like to turn their backs ILLEGALLY to defend themselves. I would be cracking up if Dela Joto punched Gayweather in the spine and he fell on the ground hurt. It should be counted as a TKO victory for Dela Joto.

The myth of punching power. Not really a myth, but people overrate punching power as an attribute, or they exaggerate the difference of it between fighters. Like when people say "Chris Byrd couldn't punch his way through a wet paper towel." Or when people look at a guy with a good KO ratio and are like, "wow, that guy could knock out a bull." There are a million factors that contribute to a guy's perceived punching power, like speed, skill, technique, punching accuracy, style, temperament, willingness to trade, height, competition.

also the myth that winky was robbed against Vargas. It was a close fight and could have gone for Winky but in no way did he dominate Vargas to call a robbery.:nono:

I agree though that the way he retired after both loss was pretty weak. It denotes a lack of sportsmanship. Still, apart maybe from the Wright fight (In which he was more clueless than afraid), I've never seen Tito as afraid in a fight as Roy was of Tarver.

See this is the difference between a fan of a fighter (me with Duran) and a nuthugger like you with Roy.
I don't have to make up abilities to give Duran, his work speaks for itself. If you think hands of stone implies him being a puncher, perhaps you should talk about his first nickname "Rocky" and know that he wasn't given his hands of stone moniker until later in his career. In addition, for the spanishly challenged it means HANDS OF STONE. I know you have a 3rd grade vocabulary, but the clear implication of this phrase is that he has heavy hands, and that "I swear to God, every punch he hit me with felt like bricks" - hopefully you know.
As per the rest of the diarrhea from ur fingers, use common sense, not hatred.
