This welterweight has the skills of greats yet he never gets his proper respect. Why? Because he actually boxes and uses skills and doesn't brawl like a drunken sailor. He gave Taylor a lesson and Taylor himself is a fine boxer too. Both of these guys would clown Pavlik

Pavlik keeps his left very low at times and I can see Taylors right cross landing a heckuva lot if they fight

there's nothing good about the way Spinks fights, anyone can do it

i believe anyone in the world could be in Spink's position, they just choose not to out of pride and honour

:bears: :bears: He has no honor. Honestly, if they gave him the decision, I would have stopped watching boxing for quite some time.

That's a ridicuous statement.

Any trained fitness person at 24 hour fitness could do what he does with minimum training. Larry Merchant reads this board. He basically hijacked my opinion and I am overjoyed. Boxing rules should expressly frown against this style. He just slaps a jab and Sprints. If someone gets close, he grabs. Any professional fighter could do what he does and every male cardio instructor.

Well, I certainly had a laugh when some people started comparing him to Pernell Whitaker following the Mayorga and Judah fights.

He's not close to the level of fighter Pea was, but he has skill that's a little harder to replicate than you're alleging.

Perhaps. However, it is allot easier to "fight" when you have no intention of fighting. He is just a survior. He knows how to stay up. I feel he puts in a bad faith effort. He makes fight fans and judges sleep and not care about what is going on. He is putrid.

People who have no clue about boxing (the acutal thing, not setting on your fat ass watching HBO) think very little of Corey's skills. The guy has mad skills and the reason Taylor couldn't do anything is because Corey never allowed him to.

What Spinks does is not easy I just laugh at people who put down Corey's skills.

He has fast hands and fast feet. It is very hard to fight a guy who refuses to fight. It isn't like he is outscoring opponents. He runs and limits the action so in that sense he didn't allow Taylor to do anything. He gets hit allot actually. Taylor landed almost at a 50% clip. He just didn't throw because Stinks is in full flight. He has skills, but not a skill set that is good for boxing. He should be banned.

Why even bring this up? Make a post about someone who could take Steve-Dave out and you have a story.

Corey frustrated Taylor all night with angles and feints - he even had Taylor moving back when he put combos together and like one poster said if it was Floyd it would have been called a masterpiece

I'd call it Stink. Taylor looked stupid in there though.

He did look stupid. Watch the end of the 11th round when Corey acts like he was going to spin off the ropes to his left (Taylor's right ) and then Corey spins/pivots in the opposite direction. Taylor was still looking for Corey - he didn't even know which direction he went. I still can't believe like many other how a limited fighter like Taylor has been able to get this far.

taylor doesnt fight well at close range anyway, if spinks would have got in there a couple times a round and landed a good shot, versus just the jab he would have won an unanimous decision, its not like taylor landed anything that fight

Masterpiece? Is that what you call it when a guy barely lands any clean punches and runs around the ring? Round 12 was a fucking disgrace.

I am going to have to formally score it to be sure, but it was such a dreadful fight, I don't want to waste my time.

Good point that didn't come to mind. As for Corey he gets tons of criticism but I personally enjoy watching him. If he only had some pop ....

Johnny Tapia didn't have much of a pop. He was pretty defensive. If he'd been black, everyone would've been on his ass for being boring.

How was that a good point? JOhnny Tapia wasn't defensive. Sure he used the jab and he was quick, but Tapia trade din just about every single fight he ever participated in. Tapia was popular because he had a good story and his fights tended to be exciting. He was a 'fans' fighter.

Skin colour has fuck all to do with it and shame on your for encouraging that line of thinking.
