Las Vegas, NV (June 27, 2007). . .Floyd Mayweather, the recently crowned super welterweight champion and recognized pound-for-pound best boxer in the world today, has heard enough trash talking from Ricky Hatton over the recent weeks and is ready to step in the ring and "beat him all the way back to England." The announcement comes just days after Hatton's title defense win over Jose Luis Castillo Saturday night and less than two months after Mayweather's win over Oscar de la Hoya May 5th.

No that's NOT why! You guys are so ignorant.
A Hatton fight is a BIGGER fight than a Mosley fight for many reasons:
a) Hatton is HUGE in the UK
b) Hatton has BIGGER recent victories than Shane (not even close)
c) Hatton, like Floyd, is an UNDISPUTED, UNDEFEATED, LINEAR champion.
THIS is the biggest fight to be made in boxing right now...NOT Mayweather-Mosley (even though most of us purists would rather the latter)
Are ya with me!!

I almost want to say Hatton got Lucky to land that body punch on Castillo but I won't. Hatton was employing his usual stink in that fight and did not look spectacular at all. He looked very beatable to me.
I personally would rather him take on the more accomplished and better fighter in Mosley.

When due to contractual disputes with his promoter (Every fighter has them) he "goes and fights Paul Williams", the result of a devious twist in Bob Arum's "Beggers can't be choosers" attempts of blackmail, so he accepts the fight with Paul Williams for virtually the same amount of money, simultaneously sloshing Bob Arum, and Fraud fans up the arse with a 24 foot electric eel.

If it happens I hope Floyd goes back to 140 to do it. Cause if Hatton goes to 147 and Floyd whips him he'll get less credit cause Hatton looked horrible at 147 the only other time he came up, Floyd gets major props if he goes back to Hattons weight and beats him. I don't think Floyd would have a problem making 140 either. But I do think that the harder fight for Floyd would be with Mosley or Cotto but at this point I'll take what I can get.

Nope wouldn't happen in a million years. As stupid and dumb as he appears to be outside the ring. When he's inside the ring he's possibly one of the smartest boxers today. He will do what he will have to do to win. And people should not sleep on PBF's inside fighting.
As far as the weight. I think that the fight should take place at either weight. Ricky draining himself down to 140 is gonna catch up to him sooner rather than later. So he might want to take the fight at 147 or catch weight. As far as the money goes ya'll know that PBF is gonna want the lions share. Still the fight will happen. I'll Holla 5000

Fraud's 'inside fighting' did him wonders against Castillo, especially after that 7th round where his eye-balls almost popped out of his head  ,.. he had to give it up real quick, and resort back to doing what he does best. Fraud's 'inside fighting' sux, he might've had the balls to do it at 130 against featherweights, but you'll never catch him in the act against opponents "relatively similar" in size, he'll be sticking to potting and running thank you Bigdawg.

Floyd is technically so accomplished compared to Hatton that it seems almost absurd to compare the two so bare with me as I explain my rationale.
Your rational for thinking Shane has a good chance of beating Floyd makes the most sense because Shane is more technically accomplished than Cotto and Hatton. Shane has the speed and the power to threaten Floyd and the work rate to execute (unlike De La Hoya). Yet I think Floyd wins because he gets there first... straighter punches, better counters, the ability to avoid Shane on the inside. Shane just isn't technically accomplished enough in one category to beat Floyd IMO. And Shane does not IMO have the footwork to cut the ring off and stop Floyd's ring generalmanship.
Now Cotto has the single skill (body punching) to threaten Floyd, unlike the all round Mosley. At one point I actually thought this would be a good fight... but Cotto needs to be able to get to Floyd often, while leaving himself exposed in the process and Cotto needs to be strong enough to walk through Floyd's punch. Cotto would get hit a lot and even if he hurt Floyd he would have to be able to break him down and survive getting countered often. I think Floyd would maybe even get dropped once but would adjust to Cotto.
Here is a scenerio where I think Hatton could win: assuming they fought at 140.... Hatton could walk through Floyd's punches and smother Floyd like he did Zoo. He would get Floyd out of his game and fuck with him by using the holding and humping in moderation. Hatton has a good jab when he uses it, so he could also drive Floyd back. Hatton is strong enough to hurt Floyd on the inside. By staying on top of Floyd in an ugly fight and punching at the many angles he does Hatton could exhaust Floyd and hurt him to the body. Floyd would not counter because Hatton would be right on top of him.
This scenerio isn't likely but IMO of the three (Cotto, Shane and Hatton) it is the most probable way Floyd gets beat. Having said that I don't think Hatton beats Shane or Cotto. Cotto wins for sure because Hatton cannot take it to the body and Shane is too strong for Hatton to walk through. I am not even so sure that this scenerio would play out... but of these three I definitely think Hatton has the best chance... And while I hate when Hatton resorts to just holding and humping, when he uses his other skills and has some stamina I think he is very strong and a relatively well accomplished brawler, swarmer (not a puncher).

It's so simple why hatton stands the best chance - bullrushing and pressuring.
Floyd has a field day with patient fighters. Cotto comes forward non stop, there's no doubt about it, but he does it patiently and picks his shots.
Corrales too, you never saw him take a backwards step, but he was very patient, and picked his punches. He didn't just RUSH at floyd. And you saw what happened in that fight.
Hatton stands the best chance because he simply won't give the chance to leisurely pot shot at his pace, as he'd like to. He'll just steam into floyd, grapple him, tie him up, land hard bodyshots, smther him, pressure him, and force him to fight, not just let him pot shot as he pleases.

you know floyd will either fight a name of no one at all, so all complaints are basically meaningless, either he stays retired or will fight a star, its not like hes gonna fight a bum, so there is no room for complaint, unless u just want to complain for the hell of it, im sure u can find something to cry about

but I think Floyd is just on another level..

Castillo (arguably Judah) came the closest to defeating Mayweather.. and it was with sheer agression and pressure.
and its embarassing for HBO to have fans walk out in the middle of the fight.
that would be ironic considering I saw a shitload of people walking out of hattons fight against urango. merchant failed to mention that.

Mosley would violate Hatton if they fought. Mosley is a far better fighter that's why.
Floyd hand picks the guys who have hype and he thinks he can beat. Enter Hatton.
Bullshit. Mosley is just as washed-up as Tszyu or Castillo were.

Mosley is better than both of those guys, he's also a lot bigger and stronger.

Tell me this ting nah!
If Floyd fought and beat up Mosley, who's OLDER than Oscar, people would say that he ducked the unbeaten PRIME talents of hatton and Cotto, and merely feasted shrewdly on a Shane who was past his best.
These Floyd haters can be ridiculous at times.

Why can't he fight them both? He's in his fucking prime for god sake. If Floyd took a shit on your face you would defend him. You'd say he had a valid reason for shitting on your face. That's how ridiculous you Floyd groupies are.
For the record I would like to see Floyd fight either Hatton or Shane. I'd just personally prefer him fight Shane.

Mayweather gets £5m Hatton offer
Promoter Dennis Hobson has offered Floyd Mayweather £5m to fight Ricky Hatton in Britain later this year.
Mayweather says he is willing to come out of retirement to fight Manchester's light welterweight champion.
"I've spoken to some of his people and they've been very receptive. It's a very substantial offer," said Hobson.
However, Hatton's former promoter Frank Warren claims he could promote some of his future fights after settling his libel row with the fighter's father.

Margarito and Arum offered him 8 millions..he rejected.....but earn 8 million for the fight against Bumdomir....so it really...really depends on how BAD Mayweather wants to beat Hattons ass...I don't know how much he made for a fight against DE LA HOYA...but he should understand that he will NEVER get another pay day like that....

It's different though....Hatton is a clinchmaster in the States the ref at least warns him, in England the ref gives him a look and smirk and tell him "nice job lad"! :nono:

:crafty: That's what his protection blanket told you he earned, there are some sources who say it was more likely close to 5 million. Besides Illuminati you silly boy, he didn't earn 8 million to avoid Margarito,.. he earned 8 million MINUS - 750,000 ,..:crafty: remember?..

winky 'manned up' to fight ensley bingham, adrian dodson and that other white club fighter in England? winky is my boy but let's be real, he didn't choose to go there, he had NO other options for equal or more money in the states. mcClellan went and got fucked over to the point he is how he is now. ringing endorsement there.

is that what happened? I guess that 3/4 mill didn't free him to fight to become the winner of the highest grossing fight in boxing history?

Floyd and Roy are scared that their glam asses will end up in slings like their forefather, the aforementioned "G-Man".

No, the bail money freed him up to fight Bumdomir..:eeeek:,...but they did try to hype this particular fight up like as if it were of your above description Neil, despite his opponent being just a 40 year old disposable scrub with 10 losses, looking to cash out. :nono: you know the drill.

the 750 Gs enabled mayweather to face part timer.
