I know the guy called some major historical bouts, but I swear when I hear him talk (even calling many of his fights) I can't help it but to catch some ZZZZZZZZZ's!! I know a lot of people consider him a legendary announcer, but the guy was pretty boring.

P.S. Everytime I see Cosell and Ali in an interview

Compared to the HBO announce team every announce team in sports is boring.

I don't know if he was boring, but he was blind as a bat and often clueless of what was happening in the ring

He may have been the last person in the arena to realize that Foreman was rallying against Lyle after being dropped.

I liked some of his quotes though:

"What a fight, utterly without boxing skill!"

"Cobb is wearing.....Shavers is wearing....in other words, Cobb is the white guy and Shavers is the black guy"

My favourite Cossell was the Benevenuti-Monzon reatch where Cossell talks almost as if Benevenuti is dominating the fight, misses every single situation where Monzon hurts (or even drops) him and is astonished when Benevenuti's corner throws in the towel

"The time...may have come...to say goodbye to Muhammad Ali, because quite honestly......I don't think he can beat George Foreman"
