Malignaggi wins the first 3 rounds by boxing...then Herman starts landing right hands...from the outside..in round 7 he hurts/stuns Malignaggi. Paulie wobbled but survives the round....comes back round 8 and wins it by jabbing, landing the occasional right hand...and staying away from Herman right hand....but still get hit by it...often...

That's always been my biggest problem with Herman. Too often "nothing is happening" during his fights. He's not nearly consistent enough.

Herman comes out aggressive with some body shots..but Malignaggi clinches and doesn't let him get going....uppercut/jab/right hand byMalignaggi...rolls away..clinch..Herman missing with the right..clinch by Malignaggi..
another uppercut byMalignaggi..and he holds.....right lead uppercut by Malignaggi.....good defense by Malignaggi ducking under Herman right hands/left hook..making him look amateurish......

Herman comes out aggresive with right hands...some land..some dont....at the moment the best Malignaggi can do is clinch...and stay away....probably knowing he has the decision lock...i guess.:dunno:..CLOSE fight IMO......right/lefts by Herman go over Malignaggi head....and clinch by Malignaggi...
Right to the body by Herman..clinching by Malignaggi....alot of clinching..and more clinching.....right hand land for herman..but Malignaggi blocks the left hooks......
nada...nothing...zero...

I donīt know, why Ngoudjo let Paulie off the hook. Paulie looked tired and hurt in the 7th or 8th round, but Ngoudjo let him steal a few rounds afterwards by not doing enough, before he turned it up in the championship rounds.

I haven't seen the fight on the West Coast feed yet, but I'm not surprised at all that Malignaggi had a tough time.
He was never as "slick" as his style would suggest...his feet are often stationary when he actually throws punches and he fades during the second half of fights.

malignaggi hardly landed a punch all night and even though Ngoudjo landed more than malignaggi, he still sucked. this fight sucked badly. The only thing malignaggi did well was defence and only defence. He has no offence. gift decision. I would have dq's both for imitating boxers.

IBF junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (24-1, 5 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Herman Ngoudjo (16-2, 9 KOs) on Saturday night at Bally's in Atlantic City. Malignaggi got off to a good start, but Ngoudjo started getting to him in the third and cut him over the left eye in the fourth. Things settled down in the fifth and sixth, but the challenger had a big round seven, punishing Malignaggi for the full three minutes. Malignaggi outboxed Ngoudjo down the stretch, but Ngoudjo closed strong.
Sounds like he is made to order for Hatton.

Ngoudjo is great at doing just enough not to get the decision

First and foremost this fight was not a robbery nor were there any paid judges. Yes, Ngoudjo deserved the win, I think it was close but clear. However, it is very possible that the judges felt Paulie outboxed Herman in enough rounds to edge the fight out. I score much more in favor of the busier, more agressive, harder-punching fighter that I do the moving/holding/jabbing "slick" boxer. But it is painfully apparent that many judges consistently favor the slicker looking fighter, moving, jabbing a bit, and will at times disregard who is actually landing more cleanly and effectively.
But I'd save the robbery talk for some of the much, much worse decisions boxing has puked out upon the fans.
This fight was a good fight, though, particularly in that I think it has really solidified where Malignaggi stands as a fighter. He is basically "good". He is nothing special, he is far from great, but he is better than "adequate", and that's about it. He has porous defense against fighters with good range control and accuracy, despite waaaayyy too much movement on his part. He does not use his jab consistently as he should. He is off balance too much. He tires easily and then holds like crazy. He couldn't crack an egg, and frankly he punches rather inaccurately other than the jab. This fight had him throwing few decent power punches, and I caught him several times throwing amateurish uppercuts from 3 feet away.
The guy is kind of on a Gatti level in the scheme of things, but with a much less pleasing style. I'm not really interested in seeing him again.

The two biggest clinchers in the sport.Thats true. Paulie can't fight at all inside so he just locks up. Hatton can't fight outside so runs in and locks up. It would be the worst fight ever.

I cringe at the thought of Hatton-Malignaggi. You think Hatton-Urango was ugly, wait until you see this one. Fight will definitely set Compubox clinch numbers to an all time high.

I finally watched it last night. I still don't get the fascination over Malignaggi. If he didn't dress like such a freakin' mook he'd be lucky to get on ESPN. He definately sells himself well and he seems like a smart kid but goddamn is he awful to watch actually fight. He's like Cory Spinks...........except slower and without the power.
I'd complain about the decision but Ngoudjo sucked to. It should have been an easy fight for him but his sloppy punching style let Paulie off the hook over and over and over again.
The announcers kept on saying he should have stayed inside but he sucked inside. He did nothing but smother himself with his amateurish flailing. He did better when he had a little distance and could catch Paulie at the end of his shots. If somebody had actually taught him to be a little more compact on the inside he probably would have gotten a KO over Paulie.

Ngoudju's not as bad inside as he looked, but you're right - all of his success came from mid-distance and the reason was because everytime he got close, Paulie did what he always does in close - hold. He did the same shit to N'dou but it was even worse because in that fight the referee broke them immediately giving N'dou no opportunity whatsoever to get off inside.
I agree with you though. Paulie is crap and I don't understand why people think he's any good at all. He "steals" victories. That's about the best you can say about him. Can't wait to see him get knocked out, although you "do" have to be impressed that he managed to go 12 with Cotto, even if he did so with excessive holding.

I DVR'd the N'dou fight and by the time I got around to watching it I ended up deleting it about halfway through.
He went 12 rounds with Cotto because he's a tough bastard, despite his looks. I'll give him that. Put Malignaggi's heart in Camacho Jr's body and you might have had a damn good figher.

Reason being is that he's an ex-Cotto opponent, and the groupies feel that after Moor'lignaggi was handed the IBF's paper belt, and has made one defence of it, Cotto's resume is enhanced a little extra, and Fraud groupies love him because Moor'lignaggi eerily sucks Fraud's cock through his copious fucking press releases, confirming my suspicions that this brash young Arab, is a bit 'Lok' like,..:crafty: nah mean?

I don't know about all that, but there tends to be an over-reaction after every fight. There was a lot of doubt on these boards about him even beating Ndou - which I considered relatively small hurdle to clear at the time - but it seems like him winning that fight (and title) pretty easily (with a knockdown) seems to have instilled too much confidence in him and he's become vastly over-rated (by some).
Right now, he's certainly coming back down to where he should be...though that may change if Dibella goes to the protection-route with him (and he puts together some wins).
He's likely not going to fight some of the top jr. welters like Witter or Kotelnik or Torres...but he could have his hands full with Hopkins, who was the IBF #2.
