A 11:45 this morning I heard the familiar "bling" announcing that a new e-mail had arrived in my Inbox. It was from Carlos Guzman, owner/editor of Fightbeat. The titled was, "If You're Free Today." In the body of the message was information about a Press Conference for "Crossroads", a fight card taking place at the Hard Rock Live Casino in Hollywood, FL this Friday, January 11th, featuring Super Middleweights, Jean Pascal and Edison Miranda. The only problem was that the press conference was scheduled for 1:00PM!
"To be, or not to be" a sportswriter today, was the question. I still had my weekend five-o'clock shadow and was only halfway through my morning pot of Earl Grey tea. The press conference was being held on the Boardwalk in Hollywood Beach about five miles away, but finding parking near the boardwalk at any time of the day is an ordeal. I pondered. Next thing I knew I was getting out of the shower, throwing on some workout clothes, and looking for my roller blades.
