Alex Arthur has got his dream super-fight against Joan Guzman for the WBO World Super-Featherweight title.

Promoter Frank Warren won the purse bids today (Thursday 31 January) held at the WBO head office in Puerto Rico with a huge US $280,000 bid, beating Guzman's promoters Sycuan Ringside Promotions.

fair play to Warren, but i can see Guzman vacating.....he's a lazy trainer, does he really want to be making 130, travel to Scotland and fight on a Frank Warren card, a promoter who he left a few years back and probably has nothing but resentment for.......the purse isn't massive anyway....i think he'll vacate, fight a bigger name at 130 or move to 135......Pacquaio and Marquez are probably the only guys he wants at 130 ............in short, i don't think the fight will happen.

Agreed, and I quite hope that it doesn't, because as much as I like Alex, he has very little chance of beating Guzman IMO.

arthur just had a life and death struggle with a domestic operator. he got planted around the canvas by another domestic fighter. guzman isn't a domestic fighter

Hence my commenting that 'Arthur is handy but against Guzman he is over matched'.

HOWEVER, he is not over matched to the tune of a 1 round destruction...:nono:

Actually, I think he is, or at least very close to it.

He has improved considerably since his loss to Zab, which I can't count too heavily against him considering he was pretty green at the time and he took the fight at very little notice.

He is a typical Ingle fighter- excellent on the back foot, bloody awkward to hit, has quick hands and feet, throws shots from weird angles and, most importantly, he appears to have developed enough power to trouble anyone at 140.

Hatton definitely IS a world class operator at 140, and IMO the ONLY guy at that weight who I'd give a live shot at beating him is Junior Witter.
