I think Litzau has to get going early in this fight and make Guerrero feel his power. And by getting going early, I don't mean moving around and pot-shotting Guerrero hoping to drop him-- I mean Litzau needs to apply steady pressure and discourage Guerrero from merely walking him down.

If he can't do that he'll lose the fight for sure. Guerrero is by far the stronger fighter and will benefit from the close quarters exchanges that are likely to occur once the later rounds come on.

Agreed. Rbert is pretty inconsistent from fight to fight, but even on a bad night, I don't think Litzau can beat him. Cos even on those shitty nights, where his defense is a little off and he plods around a bit; he still lands his share of shots and works the body well. Litzau isn't built to hold up over a long fight.

Litzau just couldn't do anything. Guerrero did a good job of moving his head and landing combos.

The KO was brutal. It was amzing that he tried to get up. You could see him being held up after it. His legs were shot.

Salido beat the shit out of Guerrero and Guerrero throwing another type of punch in that fight only would have resulted in more openings.

Argue that Salido wouldn't have won but for steroids and I'll shut up, but argue that Guerrero (with a new punch) is so much better than that version of Salido and I think you are way off.

This was a damn entertaning fight. Not sure how it translated on television, but Guerrero boxed well the first three rounds or so, coming forward and using the jab well...he threw some straight lefts to the body which isn't all that common these days.

But, as seems to be his standard, he let up a little in the early middle rounds and began fighting more on the inside and that allowed Litzau to creep back into the fight. Litzau hit him flush with some shots in those rounds...Guerrero even walked in to a couple jabs that landed pretty darn clean. Not a good sign at all for The Ghost.

Guerrero is getting better, he's using the jab more but he's just not consistent with it from round to round in an entire fight. He does go to the body inside, but it's not a place where he can win rounds against more skilled boxers. Salido beat him up on the inside...which is important, given that Salido is #2 in the IBF rankings (with the #1 slot open).

Guerrero's a tough fighter, though. He took a beating in their fight and lasted the distance.

The sixth round of this fight was just an absolute war. But Litzau appeared to be wearing down and in the eighth Guerrero made good use of his left hand and the uppercut was a key punch...once he had Litzau down it was all but over.

Great win for Guerrero but Litzau's a fighter where you can get false confidence from because he is available to hit.

The great thing about this fight is, even though it was in the middle of California, there was a decent amount of Bay Area press coverage for the fight. He even made the front page of the SF Chronicle sports section. Guerrero's recieved a lot more media attention the second time around as champion, and he's gotten a lot of support after the stories of his wife's illness..thankfully it appears the leukemia's in remission.
