With all of the verbal abuse flying back and forth coming from Gerry Penalosa and Daniel Ponce De Leon regarding the stalled rematch of their March 17, 2007 fight where De Leon won a unanimous decision, I turned my attention to their management team to get their side of the story regarding the delays in making this match materialize. Joe Hernandez of Team De Leon has been very vocal regarding his thoughts on why the rematch has stalled. However, after two provocative articles detailing Team De Leon’s position regarding this matter, it was time to hear Penalosa’s side of the story. I made contact with Billy Keane, Penalosa’s manager, who was eager to clear up some of the confusion.

Penalosa wants to fight Vazquez? Holy shit. I think he'd get his azz kicked in that fight, bad. If he even went the distance against Vazquez I'd be impressed.
Now Marquez? That's a different story - his style is better suited to beating him. Still, I think both guys would be too big for him.

Penalosa isn't the first guy to think Vazquez was very beatable on the basis of sparring sessions
