Former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, the man who finally toppled the lengthy reign of Bernard “the Executioner” Hopkins, can’t wait for his highly anticipated rematch with Kelly “the Ghost” Pavlik – the man who smeared his perfect record with a seventh-round knockout last year. He vows that the February 16th rematch held in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be much different: “If I get him in that position again, I’m going to finish him. It’s all about revenge.” He refers to the second round when Taylor had Pavlik in major trouble but could not quite finish his courageous and resilient challenger. Taylor’s promoter Lou DiBella expressed it as follows: “Next time he does the chicken dance, he won’t finish the round.”

No matter what gotta love Taylors confidence. He may not win this fight but he is showing heart by even taking this rematch. However he stills get beat down. He just does not have the skill level to compete and he will find out that its not the trainer. I'll Holla 5000

Absolutely. I can't see any way on earth that Jermaine can win, but he is showing considerable balls in getting immediately back into the ring with the guy who KHTFO last time out.

This'll B an even BETTER Fight, Cause Taylor is PRIDEFUL & has HEART...He's Gonna ENGAGE Pavlik More, but that's Only Gonna Lead to him Being KO'ed EARLIER than Last Time...

Jermain will Either EXHAUST Himself Earlier OR Get Caught FLUSH & Taken Out...The RE will B Shorter than the Original...

Pavlik KO 5 N Another Momentum Shifting BarnBurner!!!...

Taylor tried his hardest to stop Pavlik last time, not only that but he blames the loss on him tiring due to trying to take Pavlik out. Taylor is getting stopped again.

Pavlik will win a decision in a fight that looks a bit like Jones-Tarver III

I originally picked Taylor but after rewatching the fight, I think he will get busted up and out of there even earlier this time but he'll go down swinging.

No shame in going out that way.

well Taylor doesn't have Steward this time so he might do better in there.

He did hurt Pavlik like nobody else has before so let's not pretend it was a one sided beatdown.

I think Pavlik will beat him again but Taylor has enough to give him problems.

I think Taylor will be more competitive but as soon as he gets tired Pavlik is gonna put him out.

I think Pavlik will beat him again but Taylor has enough to give him problems.Pavlik's Been Hurt AND DROPPED B 4...That's the BIGGEST Reason why he DIDN'T PANIC when Taylor Hurt him...

If NOT for that PRIOR Experience, Taylor just MIGHT have FINISHED him...The POINT is, Pavlik HAS Been There B 4...AGAINST TAYLOR...

Pavlik has been dropped and hurt against Fulgencio Zuniga,Jermain Taylor and.....Mathias Bedburdick (http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=31778&cat=boxer) early in his career.

Well it's not like he's the only good fighter to get dropped by a no name. Guys like SRL and ODLH were as well. Pavlik is still a badass but his chin is so so.

Ray Leonard...when did he get floored?? Against Hearns in '89? He was past it then.

Kevin Howard actually (the fact that you didn't even remember the name tells somethig)

Just see how many times Joe Louis or Felix Trinidad were down and you'll see it doen't mean a thing

I never saw those Pavlik fights were he was dropped and hurt so I can't compare.

So the question I ask is were those guys close to finishing him? Because Taylor was! It wasn't a flash knockdown, I saw Pavlik in big trouble and give him props for surviving it.

I ask becasue when it happened I didn't hear any comparisons to those other fights were he was also hurt. Normally the commentators make comparisons to previous fights where the same thing happened.

Either way I pick Pavlik, I just don't write Taylor off like he is some scrub that brings nothing to the table. Their first fight proved otherwise.

I agree. :cheer: You and I would probably give Jermaine one hell of a blowjob sandwich.

Re: Pavlik knockdown.

What's the more important here - Pavlik's ability to recover so well or Taylor's inability to finish the job?

Ortho - they are right, getting dropped by a no name means nothing, many great fighters have been dropped like that. The question is whether they get up and win.

The question is whether they get up and fight on. You don't even have to win. I am just saying that, for a lock at 160, KP gets hit a bit, and dropped a bit.

Maybe he should try turning his back, that'll do the trick alright.

Yeah, but Joe "i have a sick kid and a bum hand and I need the money, money May" doesn't ref all the fights. And, I should think he'll be reffing even fewer of them.

Taylor says he wasted too much energy trying to take PAvlik out after the knockdown, and that was a mistake.......to me that means he'll be even worse at finishing Pavlik if he should hurt him in the next fight
