WBC INSTALLS GIOVANNI LORENZO AS #1 CONTENDER;
Undefeated challenger presses for June battle against WBC champ Kelly Pavlik
TOTOWA, NJ (February 26, 2008) – The WBC has released its February ratings and undefeated middleweight contender Giovanni Lorenzo has been installed as the #1 mandatory challenger to WBC champion (http://fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=21243#) Kelly Pavlik, it was announced today by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. Although honored by the ranking Lorenzo makes it clear that he wants to fight Pavlik “today” and not wait for the mandatory term to expire.

Meanwhile, Winky Wright is only 6th. :rolleyes:
Looking at the division's rankings, Duddy's actually in the top 5 of three org's.

I'd think a win over Trinidad and a debatable draw with Taylor would get him at least some credit.
I'll give you that Quartey wasn't a middleweight, but Duddy hasn't even beaten the equivalent of Sam Soliman.

Trinidad? Come on.
The draw with Taylor DOES get him some credit though. He's ranked 6th and that fight happened in what, 2006 or something? He could get a fight if he wants it. He's always been his biggest problem anyway. He thinks he's worth a squillion dollars.
I'm not arguing the case for Duddy here, either.

Ive never seen Lorenzo fight but he's gotta be a better fighter than bum ass Duddy, so I wont mind if he's the replacement.
Who has Lorenzo ever fought to be ranked #1? Looking at his record, he's been fed scrubs so far.

I have it in my head that Lorenzo is pretty good so I went boxrec warrior to comment.
No comment.

Let's see how Pavlik handles his first alphabet mandatory.
