Something I decided to start yesterday. It's not a mile everyday, but it will rapidly get there and beyond, but it is short-term just to get my cardio back in the saddle.

Yesterday: I warmup 5 minutes walking, jog 5 minutes at 10km/h, and then walk 5 minutes to cool down.
Tonight: I warmup with 5 minutes walking, jog 6 minutes at 10km/h, and then walk 5 minutes to cool down.
Tomorrow: same warmup and cooldown, but 7 minutes at 10km/h.

I used to run cross-country in high school, but that's 20 years ago. Still, if I can stick to this for 2 months, it will jack my cardio right back up to the level it was a few years ago, and that's just the beginning!

Daily updates to see if I can stick with it or be broken down.

Wednesday, Feb. 27th, I got my five-minute warmup, six-minute jog, and five-minute cooldown. I did a new workout today, so my legs will be in agony tomorrow.

Agony indeed!

It feels like everytime I move them, someone runs a blowtorch up the front of my legs. I'm gonna have a fun time with the jogging tonight.

Yep, I got my 7 minutes jog on yesterday along with the warmup and cooldown. This keeps up, I'm gonna be a stringbean in the summer. I'll be doing one-arm chinups with a weightvest on. :)

awesome Buddy..

I do my mile-a-day

I plan to maybe eventually increase but for a full year it is one every day, over the weeks... faster and faster

Sweet, keep it up, dude. I just got back from the gym. Not only did I do my regular workout, but I also nailed my cardio because I took a longer-than-usual lunch hour.

So that is my 5 min warmup, 8 min jog, and 5 min cooldown done and out of the way. Eventually I'm gonna scale that back and do a mile or two a day.

Well today is 9 minutes. I am determined to nail this two-month program. I'll do the run in an hour or so after I get some housework done. Mr. Mom has to wait for his cardio.

I was doing handstand chinups, and when I came down, I smashed it on a basement stair this morning. It didn't hurt at first, but now my foot is throbbing from my lunchtime squat workout. Looks like I won't be getting my jog for the next few days.

I will get back on the program as soon as I can, but this sucks.

No joke, it hurts pretty bad. I just tried walking with my bare foot and it feels like there's a knife in my foot. I hope I didn't crack a bone.

Well, I got my jog going again because my foot doesn't hurt anymore, but Jesus CHRIST did it hurt!
I did 5-11-5 yesterday so today is gonna be 5-12-5.

I did a very similar thing to improve my stamina, it works good. I didn't want to run very far, just do 2 miles or so at a good pace. Now I prefer running the same distance and trying to beat my time each day. Intensity > duration.

Well, I play floor hockey every Friday at work, and I'm basically on the floor for an hour running...dying actually.

So I'm building up my stamina so that I can keep going for the whole time.

I have been doing 1 mile a day, 7 days a week. Today I was really tempted to go another mile as it is getting easier and easier.. but I stopped.. one a day baby:lol:

I'm not that consistent with the cardio yet, Lokster. I will do my best under the circumstances to get my runs in though. Bodyweight is going down.

well... my mile a day is not much cardio... but I do it intensly so I really get my heart jumpin and lungs working. I am starting to do it with ankle weigths on to make it more intense..

Be careful with the ankle weights! They can cause compression sprains when you start to get tired. :nono:

yeah.. I was thinking of wearing the lite ones I have.. or what I could do is put some weight in my daughters jogging stroller.. make it more to push

Well, 5-12-5 is done. Plus I did a bit extra, throwing punches in a kung fu-straightblast for 2 minutes. Between that and the HSPUs, my shoulders are feeling it!

I might run every two days and add two minutes in between because I think that increasing it everyday might be overtraining, and I might yet be too heavy to do it without injury. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. :dunno:

I skipped over 13 today and did a 5-14-5. Even though it was only a 2-minute increase, it really tired me. I did a couple of light sets of chins today, but after yesterday's HSPU session, I decided to go light. Tomorrow I'll do some regular chins!

After not being able to run for a few weeks due to a screwed ankle and recurring foot injury, I did a 5-15-5 this morning when I first woke up. I won't be getting a daily thing because I'm just too old and need to ease back in. I'll nail it every 2 days at a minute increase per pop. Eventually I'll get way up there.

Buddy Rydell
03-27-2008, 02:33 PM
I'm actually gonna try both and see if I can do my increases every two days and do a mile in between them.

What's your fastest time in the mile, LOK?

awesome!

Fastest ever... prolly 5:13

lately.. not sure.. in the 6:30 range or so

I am going to get it to below 5 mins..

I have not really tryed in a long time for best speed on the track, I might try today..

I normally run pushing my daughter in the jogging stroller and there seems to be a 20mph wind blowing at me so it makes it harder..

tonight if I have time I'm gonna go to the track and see if I can get a 6 or less

Jesus Christ, my legs are fucking DEAD today.

We just got back from the ultrasound appointment, and Steven is fine. Time for the weekend to start, and my birthday is on Sunday. I'm hitting the big 36 and I really don't give a shit. I just wanna see my boy!
