Just saw Harlem Nights after many years of not having seen it.
When the adult Mr. Quick is seen sitting with Ray at Sugar Ray's nightclub in Harlem Nights, a staff member in a goatee is talking to them when Tommy Smalls walks into the place with Dorothy L'heureux.
The male staff member's name in the movie is Roberto. After seeing it again yesterday after all these years, I only just now realized that it was Roberto Duran.
He looked like the type of guy who could have done those bit-part tough guy roles like Danny Trejo. Lord knows he was tough enough!
In fact, Danny Trejo has been in tons of movies and he was a successful lightweight and welterweight boxer when he was younger.
So who are the fighters you've seen over the years in movies and tv? The older the better! :bears:

That part made me laugh because although he was pretty grizzled even at that point, he had won the title from The Blade earlier that year. Imagine Manos de Piedra onloading on an actor. I wonder if he ever turned out Stallone's lights when they were filming Rocky II?

I'm thinking about some of the lesser lights although Tony Danza was a fighter and apparently he had some pop in his punches. When they had an Ali tribute many years ago, Danza came out and told the audience about a time when he was at a gym and Ali walked in. Danza was starring on Taxi in those days, and Ali took him out for the day. Danza calls Danny Devito and tells him he's out with Ali. Devito said something like "Bullshit!" and hanged up on him.:lol::lol:
Then they showed a clip of "Tough" Tony Danza, and Danza bombed some guy out in like the first minute of the first round.
George Chuvalo is the guy armwrestling Jeff Goldblum in The Fly, the guy whose forearm gets snapped in half. :eeeek:
I remember Riddick Bowe being on an episode of the Fresh Prince.

Anyone old enough to remember George Foreman being in an episode of "The 6 Million Dollar Man"? I was 10 and I was sure Steve Austin would kick big George's ass.
Also,Andre the Giant actually played Big Foot in 'The 6 Million Dollar Man".

Mike Tyson had a cameo in Who's the Boss. He was hilarious in the film Black and White.
Tommy Hearns fought Tony Danza's character in an exhibition match in Who's the Boss.
George Foreman had his own short-lived sitcom in 1991.
Roy Jones had a small part in The Matrix Reloaded.

Lennox Lewis was in the movie Johnny Was...decent sized role, too, and not a boxing role...unlike Ocean's Eleven with Klitschko. He was also on Entourage.
Roy Jones-Bryant Brannon was in the movie The Devil's Advocate.
The boxers in Ali (like James Toney, Charles Shufford, Al Cole, Michael Bentt, etc.) and the Rocky (Tarver, et al) movies were numerous.
I've never read it anywhere, but it looked like Lance Whitaker was one of the boxer's in the boxing scene in Payback.

ARnold was pretending to be sick in bed to meet "the champ' who was Ali. So when Ali came over and went up to his room Arnold was in bed with is eyes closed acting like he was dying.
Ali tells him "this is the champ" so Arnold asks him - Is this Joe Louis" So Ali turns and looks at the camera and says "This kid must be delirious"

Nah, he's an actor first and a boxer second. If he's included, then we have to include Danny Bonaduce and Donny Osmond.

Lucia Rijker was just in an episode of The L Word, and she got hot and heavy with a fine ass chick...she was also the one who put Hillary Swank in a death beat in Million Dollar Baby right?
For years I heard what a badass Lucia Rijker was as a female boxer and I never saw her on tv. I never saw her fight any of the big names female fighters. I dont' unerstand where the hype came from. :dunno:

Utterly ridiculous. That scene pretty much ruined the whole movie for me.
I never quite got the hype either. Greatest woman boxer who never fought anybody I guess. :dunno:
