I find now that I am at the point with each where I need to do a low-rep warmup set before I get to the main sets. It's just that my sets are getting so high-rep now, 19 for chins and 18 for handstand pushups, that I need a light warmup set to make sure I don't injure anything.
It's likely also due, in part, to the colder climate. :dunno:
Before I didn't do warmup sets, but now I have to or I might injure something. :blobbox:

cant say ive ever bothered with warm up sets. I usually just take the dog for a power walk before I startto get the blood flowing:blobbox:

Sounds good, but my pregnant wife occupies my time so I am usually at home, and we don't have a dog. :dunno:
I'm gonna stick to sets of 15 for now in each so that I can keep pushing forward with my one-arm chinup training.
I usally stretch some and do some running before my intense sets.. just to get the muscles looser.
I am going to really up the intensity of my workouts over the next week. I have been doing 100 pushups a day and maybe 40chins a day for a LONG time, plus 100 chin sundays and my hspu's and elipitcal hand running
I think I'm going to turn it WAY up..

Very true. I think a warmup of 5 or 6 reps should be sufficient. I'm sure I'll get plenty of warming up tomorrow when I get to shovel that 30cm of snow we're currently getting.

Apparently stretching is quite counter productive while your muscles are still cold and actually increases the risk of injury.

If you do it after your warm up, it's good.

that is 100% true..
I always run a bit before stretching.. or some light exercise then stretch

Well, I did a warmup of 6 in the HSPU! After a spell, I'll rip right into my regular sets. Lok's the monster though. He can do them all day. :bears:
I'll see if today's the day for 100 HSPUs for me though!
