The other night, I thought that I'd just grab that part of the doorframe at the very top where only my fingertips could latch on because there's only that much room.

I grabbed it and did one. :eeeek:

My hands sweat too much and it is a painted surface, but I managed to go all the way up with my fingertips at each end of the doorframe.

It's harder than it sounds.

Buddy, I do most of my chins on my fingertips.. on the bar but also on the door sometimes.. for a while my forearms were killing me but I guess got used to it

The bar that I have is small, but it was the thin wooden edge of the doorframe that gave me so much trouble. Different gripping surfaces tax the hand and finer muscles differently. I can barely fit a half-inch of my finger onto the doorframe, which is killer for me.

I've yet to try them, but I can't see them being much different than ropeclimbing, which I'll be doing this weekend. You know, maybe I'll wrap a towel around the chinup bar at my gym and give them a whirl. :dunno:

I do on occasion, they really tax your grip! I only do them sometimes as I am more about banging out big numbers now..

i've been doing them a little with two towels, one for each hand

pretty good i think, works grip...and if you turn your wrists in and out as you do it hits your bicep better apparantly (like doing curls)

 cool

i suppose if you're like REAL and can do chin ups for 10 min straight then it's a long time to hold on for
