On Fox Sports Net.

Not sure anyone wanted to be reminded of it, but there it is.

I may wait for the weigh-in results to decide if I'm actually going to watch this thing.

Maybe we're looking at positive test #3 for Toney.

Watched some Toney sparing and he looks sharp.

Yeah, thatīs what Dougie said, because he was afaraid that Toney would snap, if he told the truth. Heīs still not in shape, but Rahman is so washed-up, he might beat him. It will be an epic bout, the american equivalent to Sam vs. Vidoz.

Hanz

I'll have to watch this one. Not many good fights out there in the division anyway. I hope both fighters can at least look semi-decent in there.

Indeed. The guy looked like a complete POS against Zuri Lawrence which was televised on Versus. Lawrence was very competitive until stopped in the last round of the fight... Not sure how it was scored but I personally thought Zuri was ahead at the time of stoppage. Horrendous performance by Hasim :bangh:

Hopefully Toney KHTFO with a counter and disposes of this fellow

I find it hysterical that Toney can show up with tits and a pot belly, yet still be APPLAUDED for showing up lighter than for any fight since he beat Holyfield.

But those tears of laughter will be tears for real when I'm up tonight, forced to cover this POS show.

Exactly. Not everyone can have the physique of a Mayweather or Bruno, but no boxer should be applauded when he enters the weigh-in looking like this.

Rahman essentially quits in order to try to get a NC,

Yep, that's exactly what happened. Rahman was hoping to get a NC by saying he couldn't see out of his eye. The cut itself was not even close to being bad enough to warrant a stoppage. Rahman was getting handled right before the round ended and he found a way to not get KO'd. He deserves the loss and Toney deserves the Win.

Yeah but his style is so economical, he doesn't need to build muscles and train his ass off. He just counters all day. Hardly looks like he's trying. The Ruiz fight was terrific, he was just toying with the bum all night.

Was it true that Rahman started getting hit more after the cut? He claimed Toney started landing after the cut because his vision was blurred and blood was getting in his eye.

Really makes you lose any sympathy you might have had for Rahman considering they fucked him over on the final decision of the fight's result.

not quite as dramatic a contrast, but when Vargas beat Yori Boy in 7 rounds for his first title at 154, Yori Boy quit because he "was taking too much punishment" but at the very same time on Telemundo for the 122 pound title - Enrique Sanchez went thru hell with both eyes closing his entire face swollen cuts all over the place basically 4 times worse than the damage Yori Boy sustained yet he gutted it out all 12 rounds gave a championship effort dropping a close decision in a great fight.

Not sure if he was being too much of a quitter though. It just so happened that Toney was lacing up Rahman right after the cut opened, and the bleeding was going straight into his eye.

Rahman punked out there is no doubt, and i have no sympathy for him. but him getting ko'd in the next round or so is complete speculation, and the result of the fight is not correct in accordance with the rules of boxing. the result is incorrect, therefore he was fucked over, imo

Had Rahman just let the doctor look at his eye, the fight would have continued. It was Rahman who decided he didn't want to fight. The cut was minor compared to many others where the fight still went on.

By James's standards, he trained hard and ate less.

He was still way too fat, or as Ike would say, "morbidly obese" for a professional boxer to be.

I fully expect Tony to now cuff both Klitchkos and wrap things up by following through on his promise to buy livestock for Sam Peter after a whoopin! :mj:

He's too small, and also old, for Wlad. Wlad would beat him up, badly.

No surprise here:

Toney-Rahman Rematch Result Changed from TKO to ND
By Doug Fischer (July 28, 2008)

The third-round technical stoppage that James Toney scored over Hasim Rahman two weeks ago was changed to a No Decision by the California State Athletic Commission, according to a press release distributed by the CSAC (the agency that regulates boxing in California) today.

An accidental clash of heads in the third round of the Fox Sports Net-televised heavyweight bout from Temecula, California resulted in a cut above Rahman's left eye. In-between rounds, the former heavyweight champ told the ringside physician that he could not see and the bout was stopped on the assumption that Rahman had willingly retired on his stool, thus resulting in the TKO victory for Toney.

However, according to the Unified Rules of Boxing that are followed by all U.S. jurisdictions a bout that is stopped before four completed rounds due to an accidental headbutt or foul is automatically ruled a No Decision.

This is the statement from the CSAC: "The original decision of the James Toney v. Hasim Rahman bout that took place on July 16, 2008 in Temecula, California was a Technical Knockout win for Mr. Toney. Mr. Rahman subsequently appealed the decision. His appeal met the rule requirements.

After reviewing all available facts, the original decision is changed to a No Decision."

The ruling erases the win from Toney's record and the loss from Rahman's ledger.

I was at that fight. I went with two buddies that know nothing about boxing. That is the last time, I will ever go to a card with mainstreamers. Anyway, these drunken lunatics started screaming. I can even hear one buddy on the telecast. He was standing in the middle of the aisle 5 minutes after everyone calmed down and screamed BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO like a 2 year old having a tantrum. My other buddy a drunken stoned whitey ran up to Rahman and ringside and called him a fucking bitch. An enormous black man turned to him and said: "it was a headbut" and my friend wisely shut the fuck up. It reminded me of Eddie Murphy Raw. This guy told my friend "oh, you just saw Rocky didn't you white boy."

Good card. A kid by the last name of Dallas was really impressive. IMO, Rahman quit. The but wasn't bad and JT was landing some wicked shots. He wanted out. For those of who say I am negative, there it is. The main event stunk but I am glad I went.

Daft. Only sexually frustrated men of small stature use that word. Oops. I guess your high school education is being put to good use. Keep looking up to me, Neil. Then again, I guess even if I were only 5 foor 4 you would have no choice but to look up.
