Overrated or deserving of the praise?
Personally I think this is one of, if not THE, greatest movies ever. It's certainly my favourite.
+1 Pulp Fiction is an amazing movie..
It tends to get a little slack from guys who grew to hate Tarantino

I think it's a great movie that has plenty of re-watchability.

This.
I love how it breaks every rule in the book of 'how to make a movie' and still works perfectly. The Muhammad Ali of movies

According to Tarantino, 3 flashlights.

Couldn't stand it. Not even a good movie which is over-rated, I just did not like it at all.
I will say, for what it's worth, I generally dislike Tarantino's movies, & the man himself. Maybe it's just not my style.

Did you like Inglorious Basterds at all?

I didn't watch it (again, the Tarantino connection is a turn-off).

There's clearly Tarantino in the film but it's not "typical" of him for lack of a better term.
It's a very good, not great movie but Christoph Walz's performance in it shouldn't be missed.

I loved it.
Tarantino is not the most original writer but I generally enjoy his movies. This I liked the most, followed by True Romance (it's good that Tarantino only wrote it and didn't direct it), and then Inglorious Basterds.

It could be very good. Unfortunately, each time i've tried to watch it i've fallen asleep (3 times so far).
I WILL watch it some day.

Same thing for me with A Clockwork Orange.
I don't know what it is but every time i've had it in my possession i've been really tried and have fallen asleep. I think i rented it about 3 times in the past yet still haven't seen the whole thing.

I always spend the movie trying to figure out if that's Malcolm McDowell or Roddy McDowell...........then when it gets to the part where he bludgeons the old lady with the giant penis, I usually change the channel.

Agreed. It's one of the aspects of Tarantino's "genius" that i think is very overrated.
However.... I think this movie is very good. Also liked Jackie Brown, True Romance and Resevoir Dogs. The rest of his movies not so much.

I liked A Clockwork Orange a lot, however I thought Barry Lyndon was boring as shit. I didn't even make it through the whole movie because it was so damn slow moving.
The pacing of some of Kubrick's movies could be too damn deliberate (i.e. a snail's pace) for me.

I never used to care for Jackie Brown that much when it first came out, but find myself watching it more and more whenever it's on lately.

It is called absurdity, meaning dialogue that seems mindless but that expresses something about the theme of the movie. Not everybody likes it of course, but I usually do. The only movie where in my opinion Tarantino's dialogue does not work is Grindhouse, which is not a good movie in any way
