That's 6 plates on each side. 12 plates total plus the bar. That's supposed to be 600Lbs. But if each plate is 45 Lbs, that's 12 plates x 45lbs which equals 540. Add the weight of the bar to 540. The bar is what? 45lbs? That makes it 585lbs. Unless the bar is 60lbs. I guess the bar has to be 60lbs then since it's supporting 585lbs of weight and it's bending.
Anyway, it's an impressive display of strength.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/David_Abbott_benchpress_600lb.jpgit looks like there are some 5's (maybe) on the bar too, along with the clamps (which could be 2 1/2 lbs each)

come on Hanzy, you're a powerlifter, get your shit straight

No worries. I thought you hadn't seen it before.

Some people claimed it shouldn't have counted as a clean lift because Abbott bounced the weight off his chest. Abbott claimed "Try bouncing 600lbs off your chest!"

That guy is seriously strong. Unlike most Powerlifter who arch their backs (and wear bench shirts) to shorten the distance of their lifts, he benched that flat.

Hanzy, that is impressive, even if it's a 45lb bar and 2and 1/2 lb collars.. Still! That's a lot of weight!

I used to work out with a guy here in MD, a cousin of William Joppy, he was the strongest guy I knew, he benched 640, real cleanly too... this cat had like 25"arms too!

What's your best bench Hanzy?

640 is freaky indeed! Guy must be a world class lifter. My best was around 220.

:jester:it wouldnt count in a competition, but as far as I'm concerned, Tank is right....600 lbs doesnt "bounce" off of anything.

NOT dumbells you fat fuck

Actually it was this big goat in my village in Punjab. I picked him up over my head to see how heavy he was before I milked him.

He had the MD state record for a while, not sure if he still does

your best is not 220 a hole, I used to get 225 (two plates) for 15 reps or more easy!
