Crawford Made it Clear he's Moving Up, After his 1-Sided Win Last Night...How Does he Fare vs. World Class Jr. Welters???.... Danny Garcia Lucas Matttttthhhhhyyyyysssseee Lamont Peterson Ruslan Provodnikov Adrien Broner Chris Algieri & Others???...Who Would You Put him in w/1st???...2nd???... REED:shadow:
Pretty weak list. Broner is a mental midget. Protestnikov is a face-first mongol. Peterson is vying with Broner for the Dunce Cap. I'd say Garcia is the man. I think he is the most rounded of all the guys on that list, provided he can remain clear of his dullard fathers advice.
I like the Garcia matchup most. Provodnikov would be interesting. Think he beats Broner all day long.
No Way in Hell is that List "Weak", Particularly in Regards to a Guy MOVING UP to that Weight Class...Each of those Names Presents a Unique Challenge to Crawford.... Peterson Ain't Special or Anything, but he Walks Around @ about 160lbs & is Crafty...Broner &/or Provodnikov Would Likely Be THE Hardest Puncher TC's Every Shared a Ring w/,To that Point...Provo Would Undoubtedly Be the STRONGEST Fighter he's Been in w/...& You Didn't Mention Mattttttthhhhhhyyyssssse @ All, Who's Still THE Most Dangerous Jr. Welter on the Planet... Garcia's the Guy Crawford Should Work his Way Up To...If Danny's Still @ the Weight, This Time Next Year (Coupled w/Crawford Facing 2 Guys from This List), That'd Be a BIG Fight... REED:shadow:
As for the HBO/Showtime/Haymon Factor... REED Thinks Crawford is Slowly Morphing Into a Bit of a Low Level "Money" Option for the Likes of Peterson, Broner, Matttthhhhhyyyssse or Even Garcia...They're ALL Hoping to Hit the Lottery, Facing Floyd Next, but In Lieu of That, Crawford Will Likely Be Named "Fighter of the Year" & Like Nonito Donaire, will Experience a SURGE in Notoriety, as a Result... As Such, it Behooves Haymon to Maintain a Working Relationship w/HBO (& Vice Versa), Given Crawford's Potential...REED's Point in Saying All that is, These are Fights that CAN Happen... If Garcia Can't Join In Any Reindeer Games w/Floyd, Who's Gonna Generate a Bigger Purse for Him; Keith Thurman, Kell Brooks or Terrance Crawford???... REED:dunno:
REED Could See it Being Algieri Next.... His Name is Still Out There a Bit, yet there's NO Chance of him KO'ing Crawford, as he Tastes 140 for the 1st Time...Not the Most Scintillating or Action Packed Matchup Out There, but a SMART Introduction to Jr. Welter... REED:shadow:
haymon aint working with hbo or arum. thats a pipe dream. crawford would beat the fuck outta algieri.
Ah yes, Crafty, Walk Around Heavy Peterson. A feared and vaunted commodity, he is. Is this with the pellet in or the pellet out, mind......
I don't like to rank fighters until they've had at least one fight in the division, even if it's a test the waters kind of bout. I would probably have him as a favorite over most on that list though. All of those matchups could be interesting with the exception of Peterson and Algieri. Hopefully he doesn't waste his time with either of those two bores.
IMO Danny Garcia is NOTHING special....Crawford(who I also think is nothing special) should go straight at him...but he won't!!! I say fight Peterson or Algieri first fight should be against a LEGIT 140 but not one that can actually bang....We know BRONER nor his team is going near Crawford. After that he can set up a fight vs. Mauricio Herrera....Then Garcia or Matthysee....
I agree with most of this, apart from the bit about Broner. Broner's power is shit at 140+, nowhere near the level of FFH Provo, Lucas, and Garcia - who all have legit power.
It might be an OK list relative to Crawford......but compared to some recent, and I don't mean ATG, lists at 140, it is pretty dire. Its not their physical talent that is just circumspect, its their mental attributes. Zab Judah was a detart but in his pomp, he was better than the guys on that list.
not really Physically maybe, but Judah, was full of flaw, most notably mental flaws. he pretty much always was the better guy physically, yet he almost always found a way to lose to top guy. It wouldn't be any different if he was around today Your thinly veiled attempt at overrating Tzyu doesn't pass any serious examination. Guys like Mitchell, Bailey, Tackie and Corley, who were all top fighters during his reign. weren't better than this crop of fighter. As for Crawford, i'm not sure he'll have a lot of success at 140. I think he's still relatively unproven, since Burns and beltran are fringe guys, and Gamboa was way undersized (wether people want to admit it or not).
Gotta agree with JOM. Crawford is obviously good, but his signature win is over a guy who literally looked 2 divisions smaller, at best. Burns and Beltran are not good fighters. I'll be very surprised if he becomes the top dog at 140. I'd pick Lucas and Garcia to beat him. Provo is a pick em fight. Algieri proved Provo can be outboxed fairly easily, but Algieri is big and extremely negative.
I'd pick Crawford over both Matthysse and Provodnikov. I think he'd be too crafty for both, that's just an inkling I have though, I'd agree with Mex and JoM that he is still relatively unproven. The interesting one is Garcia who I rate highly.
You guys are dreaming! Garcia is moving up. And even if he weren't, Crawford isn't going anywhere near him. HBO's plan for Crawford is clearly to build him up with one or two more fights and then put him in there with pacquiao. That means, no garcia. No peterson. No mathysse. He could end up fighting herrera. Probably not Provo but possibly.
That's Due to Crawford Being a Pretty BIG Lightweight...Dude's 5'8 + w/a LANKY Frame...He'll Likely Be a TRUE Welter when it's All Said & Done.... Also, Crawford COULD NOT Have Beaten 3 Better Current Lightweights than Burns, Gamboa and Beltran...In a Very Short Time, he's ALREADY Rendered the Division Useless... REED:shadow:
While it's true, it doesn't mean much when it comes to his possible succes at 140, since none of the guys he beats have the talent and/or size to be relevant at 140, and would have gotten beaten as easilly by all the top 140. There is no doubt that crawford is a good fighter, but their is no shortage of good fighter at 140. The opposition he'll face will be a lot stiffer than it was at 135. Hopefully, a couple of these matches get made, and HBO doesnt steer him toward the least threatening path
He's not going to face anyone too tough unless it's pacquiao. One point to make is the announcers kept saying Crawford had a great chin. Based on what? He was actually badly hurt at one point by gamboa. I'm not saying his chin is bad. But this push from lampley that his chin is great seems totally unfounded. Especially considering he was saying it even before the beltran fight started.
