Golov is more of a grinder than the other guys on the list. He CAN end a fight on one punch, but his kos come more as of result of his accuracy and wicked body attack.
I dunno man. That Herol Graham KO was something else! I know that there have been one punch KTFOs by other guys that weren't necessarily big punchers (Martinez vs Williams, Marquez vs Pacquiao etc)...but that punch was FRIGHTENING in terms of power. He also hit McClellan with some bombs too. The guy had scary power, even at 160lbs.
Ha ha. You reference the fact that Jackson nailed McClellan with some bombs? Right. Bombs that did not stop him. And ultimately it was McClellan who stopped Jackson. This example would hardly seem to help your case.
Hearns hit Hagler with some bombs. Right. Bombs that did not stop him. And ultimately it was Hagler who stopped Hearns. This example, in Double L Logic would seem to suggest that Hagler hit harder than Hearns. Double L, don't embarrass yourself. How dare you challenge me with your primitive skills? You're as good as dead.
:: You are all over the place here. My point was not that this was proof Gman hits harder. Only that it is a case when Jackson's power fell short. So it is a little tough to see how it makes the case for Jackson.
Try again. My point still stands. If this is evidence that Jackson's power "fell short", does that mean that Hearns' power "fell short" against Hagler? Let me tell you something that you perhaps do not know...gman had a world class chin. It is perhaps because of his chin that he's in the state he is in today..kinda like Muhammad Ali.
Hearns power did indeed fall short against Hagler. You disagree? I agree both Hagler and Gman had good chins though. From this, I can see your point. Off topic, I think what hurt gman is the airborne headbutts and rabbit punches that Benn landed. He fought extremely dirty in that fight.
Myth. Why was G-man fighting with his gumshield hanging out in the 5th round when the (accidental) headbutt didn't land until the 9th? MTF
No Myth. Watch the fight again. After that headbutt, McClellan started blinking uncontrollably. He wasn't blinking like that prior to the butt. The butt in combination with the Rabbit punches, did some serious damage. Of course he was also taking too many flush shots throughout that fight as well.
For some reason there's this misconception about Jackson that he became feather-fisted once he moved up to 160. Jackson recorded plenty of brutal KO's at 160. It wasn't really his lack of power that hurt him. It's the fact that eventually he became a one eyed fighter. Only guy on this list who has an argument over Jackson in terms of one-punch power is McClellan.
That's funny. I have never heard a single solitary person ever suggest that Jackson was feather-fisted at 160. Nobody in this thread did. That is for sure. When we exaggerate and distort the positions of the parties we're debating, the entire process becomes meaningless. Sure it makes it easier for you to make a point. But it waters everything down into a black/white , good/bad, right or wrong exercise. And frankly I think boxing is much more nuanced than that. But whatever.
Sugar Ray had 100 KOs in 170 fights. Sorry but if his power was better then GGGs he should have been stopping more people because I heard his boxing was very good. It's ridiculous to suggest he has more power even if you are one of these assholes that think back in the day everybody had a better chin.
McClellan was hit behind the ear at the end of the first round by a good Benn right hand. He lost the 2nd round, too. Also................McClellan had wrapped his own hands and had a dumb idiotic corner. His problems that day were largely of his own making.
I've seen that fight plenty. McClellan was blowing out of his arse by the fifth. Headbutts my backside. MTF
And the third. And the fifth. By six rounds McClellan was walking into loads of big shots. The headbutt was in the ninth - by which time he had Benn with the whole fucking kitchen. MTF
