Tzsyu Hatton Pryor Whitaker Chavez De la Hoya Mayweather Pacquiao Same format as the 175lb thread. Nice competitive one this. Hatton is the most likely one not to make it through round 1 but after that it's pretty bloody close.
Ok I'll replace Hatton with Benitez...but I want to keep Tszyu there. Pryor Whitaker Chavez De la Hoya Mayweather Pacquiao benitez Tszyu
I think Whitaker is the best fighter of that group and would win the tournament. BTW, Cervantes should be on this list. Lol @ Hatton.
:: Tszyu is worthless in this one. Hard to tell who would win. Gun to my head, i would pick Pryor, but with no confidence. Thinking about it, that has to be one of the divisoon where it is the hardest to pick a clear winner
Yeah, Tszyu was a damn good fighter but for the life of me I can't envision him beating Whitaker, Pryor, Benitez, Chavez, Floyd, DLH. Maybe an outside chance against Pac given how vulnerable Pac is to right hands, but even that ends badly for Tszyu. 09 Pac would be too fast and dynamic for him. Locche and Cervantes would also beat Tszyu.
Fellas, the list is the list. Stop suggesting people to be added to it and if you can't resist doing that feel free to post in another topic.
julio got a gift decision. the three time champ AVENGED the loss to corley, and basically ruined urangos chin.
If we are talking absolute primes for each fighter, then the final four in the semi-final would be: Pacquiao Chavez Whitaker Pryor Of course, doesn´t matter who faces who because Pernell Whitaker wins this tournament.
Chavez wouldn't make it IMO. Not to sound too Sly-ish, but I'd pick Floyd over Chavez at 140. I'd also pick Pryor, Whitaker, Pac, Benitez, and Cervantes over Chavez at 140.
But if we´re talking primes remember, there´s as much chance of Mayweather fighting a prime Julio Cesar Chavez than.....well, you know the rest....
Considering Pryor is dead and Cervantes is in his 70s, I'd certain favor Tszyu now... But seriously, Cervantes is actually worse for Tszyu than Pryor. Tszyu would have too much difficulty with Cervantes' range and piston jab. The man was an EXTREMELY underrated technician and had a higher ring IQ than Tszyu. Cervantes really understood how to control the pace of a fight. Slicksters like Locche and Benitez were bad for Cervantes, but Tszyu was made to order for him. Cervantes-Tszyu is a more one sided version of Tszyu-Philips.
Tszyu was a very good fighter. But Cervantes is the most underappreciated HOFmer. Basically, Kid Pambele was better than Tszyu at everything.
yeah, but don't you know that fight doesn't count since Tszyu was pretty much terminally ill at this point (even though he was coming from one of the, if not the, best performance of his career)
Tszyu wasn't built to withstand the pace Pryor would force... damn sure not in a 15 rounder. And Pryor wouldn't give him the room he needs to operate. Tszyu was also very straight forward - the angles Pryor attacked from and Pryor's speed would be too much for him.
