it was just a terrible game plan or he was bought. he was literally throwing pawing jabs and pathetic arm punches all night. at least inactive kirkland went out on his sword

or perhaps he was just so shot that his punches had no snap

I will find out from Boxnation themselves, but from what I know, BT Sport bought the Boxnation channel, so sky viewers who subscribe each month do not need to pay the PPV cost. I will, however, as I have it through BT Sport.

Absolutely. To have power worth a shit you hafta be able to actually land. Angulo and Kirkland are both awful, and landed nothing. I don't care if they could take a big swing and score higher on a machine or heavybag than Cotto, Cotto hits hard and is good enough to land on elite opposition, even Floyd. So in practical terms I'd say yeah, Cotto is the best puncher Canelo has fought.

I don't think that we can underestimate the damage Lara put on Angulo. That fight effectively finished him.

I wonder how Canelo will react when Golovkin lands some bombs. Will he got to war, or get on his bike?

Important question, as I have to put some money on the fight and am undecided.

    I'm leaning towards him running.

Canelo is too slow of foot to run.

He'll go into his infamous defensive shell before he runs.

I'm gonna give the Ginger the benefit of the doubt, and say that he'll show Mexican balls. But he'll be outgunned.

His body shots will slow GGG down and his fast hands and accurate combinations will discourage GGGs attack to the point where the Kazakh will not be able to just walk him down with impunity.

If he can get around his jab, yeah I can see that.

Tall order from where I stand...

I agree. Getting around the jab is KEY to a Canelo victory. There are ways to do it which he has the skills to implement...but we'll see if he can.

Canelo, unlike Lemieux, can counterpunch effectively and he has a less predictable attack....so I don't see GGG controlling him with the jab the way he did Lemieux.

If Canelo is in ANY way predictable, he'll get carved up. He has to vary his attack and counters constantly to avoid the dreaded Golovkin "counter-counters".

The way I read this fight...the first four rounds will tell the story. If Canelo can be unpredictable in the first four rounds and get around that jab and consistently land bombs to the head and body...GGG would have received enough damage by that point that he wouldn't be as much a threat down the stretch. Conversely...if GGG can control Canelo early.....then Canelo has no chance down the stretch.

First four rounds is the fight.

Canelo's not THE most predictable fighter... but he's not exactly sophisticated either. If the strategy he tries to implement against Golov doesn't, he is NOT... NOT... NOT... the type of guy who makes counter adjustments on the fly to re-shape a fight.

GGG's height advantage will make it difficult for Canelo to counter his jab.

Perhaps...but this is the key to the entire submarine. If Canelo can't nullify the jab he loses.

Gotta say I don't think Canelo will run at all. He's not a runner. He may go into a somewhat defensive shell in reaction to Gennady's onslaught and power - not by choice but as a natural reaction and survival instinct - but his Mexican pride is on the line and I think he's more likely to meet fire with fire, or try to.

At which point of course, he'll be heavily outgunned and stopped. And Sly will wonder what on earth he was thinking in picking Alvarez :D

Easy win for Gennady my dudebros.

Man....I LOVE your confidence. I respect it. I hate people that sit on the fence in matchups such as this. I say put it all out there....all or nothing.

Here's the thing that makes this fight interesting....

Canelo is NOT a runner. It's not in his DNA and he's tough as nails. The kid is a fighter. If a guy is in front of him, he'll explode fast accurate combinations of heavy punches to both head and body. The only guys that make him look bad are slicksters and/or southpaws...his style is DESIGNED to capitalize on orthodox guys that bring the fight to him.

GGG on the other hand is a locomotive; he's basically unstoppable momentum moving in one direction.

So what you have here is literally an irresistible force vs. an immovable object. It's a CLASSIC clash of styles.

I'd love to see this one play out like Calzaghe vs Lacy...with GGG starring in the role of Lacy.

Both Canelo and GGG are proven better than Lacy. Both might be better than or worse than Calzaghe. We'll never really know. I think GGG is as good or better. I think Canelo is slightly worse.

If anybody takes a one sided beating, it won't be Golovkin.
