I don't really have favourite musicians...seems a bit like deciding what your favourite ingredient in a sauce is

Probably because the music/bands you like don´t tend to place any importance on musicianship?
    Correct
    Carl Palmer
    Keith Moon

Folks do, but there´s a time to dance around to ´That´s Entertainment´ or spitting on each other or putting up Joe Strummer posters or claiming ´we´re a garage band and we mean it, maaaaannnn´ and smashing the system and all the rest of it.... and that time is usually ages 10-18.

What exceedingly fucking daft comments. I spent about 5 hours listening to music today. And not a bar of it was 70s punk...unless you count modern lovers i guess

The only guy named so far that I would say has a style entirely based on overdoing it is Keith Moon

I thought the same thing and expected something along the lines of 'Keith Moon' to kick-off a debate.

But that's all Roll put so...

An even then, him over-doing it totally works within the framework of The Who's music...e. g. 'Going Mobile' off Who's Next

Right... I'm not a big Who guy but one of the biggest reasons The Who sounds like THE WHO is because of Keith Moon ... As elemental to them as Bonham to Led Zeppelin

Was never a fan of Moon's style, although I like a few Who songs. I bet Moon was a nightmare to be around.

The life of Keith Moon probably outweighs his drumming ability really.
'Dear Boy' is a fascinating read which really goes into detail about his entire life.
However, you do get the impression that regardless of his talent and manic personality, he was tiresome a lot of the time.

Someone gave me a copy of Sepultura´s latest album and firat thing that came to mind was the fucking drumming.

This guy, Eloy Casagrande, is just off-the charts:

Not only does he play insanely fast and hits hard....he also plays great Bossa Nova/Samba:

    Outstanding
