2001? Dr. Strangelove? The Shining? Clockwork Orange? Spartacus? Full Metal Jacket? Other? I'd say Strangelove.
Probably an unpopular response, but I like "Full Metal Jacket" the best. I'm actually one of the few that like both the 1st AND 2nd half of the movie. I'm not a huge fan in general. Certainly a skilled movie maker, but I generally find his style sterile and unfeeling. Lots of his fans appreciate the lack of manipulation, emotional or otherwise, that he employs in his films. I find it uninspiring. Please try to manipulate me more. I found "A.I." to be the perfect blend of both Spielberg and Kubrick. Kubrick helped create a fantastic world, but he knew he needed the sensibilities of a Spielberg to make anybody actually care about it.
The critics consensus have always been 2001: A Space Odyssey a true masterpiece, great work of art ahead of its time, very experimental and remains unique in the history of cinema.
Exactly. Who gives a shit what the critics consensus is? And for the record, not EVERY critic lists 2001 as his best film. Many often go with either Dr. Strangelove, The Shining, or Clockwork Orange.
I answered already you ding-wit bastards. 2001 is his masterpiece and no, those internet warriors wanna be movie critics choices don't count as legit critics.
