Exactly. He NEVER gets flustered. And his ring IQ is very high.

But credit to Brook. He's a helluva fighter.. and if it was Thurman or Garcia in there with Brook tonight, Kell would have had his hands raised.

 

I'd take Brook over Garcia and Spence over Thurman. But Thurman still has to be considered the Champ at 147.

 

Spence applies INTELLIGENT pressure. He cuts off your exits little by little.

 

Spence didnt seem overly sharp off the long layoff. Brook is a strong, tough and skilled guy tho

 

It comes down to whether thurman has more power than brook to discourage spence. Thurman ain't gonna out box or out fight spence if he is unable to earn his respect

 

Why does Thurman have to be considered the champ? They BOTH have belts.

Errol Spence is the MAN at 147 right now. And he'd be the betting favorite if the fight gets made.

 

I'm sure Thurman will gain his respect with his punches.... but Errol won't give a shit. He'll keep coming, and Thurman won't have any answers.

 

And Neil, to answer your question, it's pretty simple. Thurman has a better left hook than Brook, and Brook has a better right hand than Thurman.

If you ask me which I think is harder.... Brook's right hand. He partially stunned Golov with it.

Brook also buzzed Porter moreso than Thurman did.

 

Thurman doesn't have the skill to beat spence. I'm skeptical if he has the power to deter spences aggression

 

Best case scenario, he'll buzz Spence. But Spence's aggression won't be deterred.

I don't see it as a late round fight.

I think tonight made Spence a better fighter, and I think he'll beat the fuck outta Thurman after the first 3 rounds.

 

Spence-Crawford intrigues me more than Spence-Thurman.

Spence-Crawford we have two HIGH LEVEL skilled fighters.

Thurman's a hack.

 

The sadist in me wants to see what Spence would do to Garcia.

Eastside's saving grace is that there are some knowledgeable fans in the classic section.

But the general forum is comical.

I haven't checked Boxingscene's forum in several years. Last time I did, I was embarrassed.

Thurman-Porter and Thurman-Garcia established Thurman as the champ and both those fights happened before Spence took his big step up. Thurman is still the man and Spence is his #1 contender.

 

Yeaaa... as if Spence would struggle with Porter or Garcia....

 

Brook struggled mightily against porter, and he gave a struggle to spence (from what i read. Couldnt watch the fight unfortunately ). So it is not inconceivable that porter gove some trouble to spence

 

He struggled with Brook and that's the only top guy he's fought so far. You don't crown a champ off style points at a whim, once someone is clearly the champ they have to lose it in the ring. No one was saying the winner of Thurman-Garcia wasn't the welter champ because Spence looked so great knocking out Leonard Bundu.

 

Spence and Brook would beat anyone on Thurman and Garcia's resume.

I never considered the winner of Thurman- Garcia to be THE MAN...

 

Ok, let's just crown our favorite prospects as champ when they step up to world class competition.

 

Brook did better than I expected. When Farhood had him up 4-2 after 6, I was afraid Brook might win a decision.

 

In my mind only the casuals considered Thurman-Garcia to be for the #1 welter crown.

Let's be very frank.... Danny Garcia is a mediocre fighter, and Thurman struggled with him late. It means nothing compared to Spence breaking down Brook tonight.

The hardcores were suppose to know today crowned the best welter in the world.

I don't give a flying fuck who Thurman's beaten, because I feel that Spence beat a better fighter than Thurman tonight.

Errol Spence is the man at 147, and Thurman's gonna have to prove the odds wrong and beat him to establish himself as the man.

 

What in the fuck are you talking about? Spence hasn't been a prospect in a few years, he's been the most ducked CONTENDER at welter for awhile.

And WE'RE not crowning him champ.... he crowned HIMSELF champ tonight.

When Brook got dropped I was cracking up at the silence that hit the arena.

Indeed I did. I don't think much of either.

I had Keith winning 8-4, but he definitely faded late and let Danny win rounds.

 

Thurman may have deservedly won against Garcia but he lamed it out.

Never thought of him as the top guy at 147. Brook has always been a better fighter than Thurman, and Spence beat him.

There should be no doubt he's the guy at 147.

 

Thurman established himself as the man at 147 and when he was doing it Spence hadn't fought anybody. I like Spence more than Thurman, I think Spence stops him, but you can't just retroactively claim someone is the Champ of the division without fighting the Champ.
