Why, if this is going to be the easiest fight in the history of boxing, is Mayweather training normally for it - 2 months out?

Because the best way to turn an easy opponent into a tough opponent is to not train properly.

    Lol

We all saw Larry Merchant virtually reduce him to tears on more than one occasion. Who cares? All that matters is how he performs in the ring.

    What are you talking about?
Mayweather can beat McGregor if he had one eye closed, had a fractured hand and a migraine, couldn't he?

    He's obviously taking McGregor seriously.

As a professional you have to take every single opponent seriously....lest you suffer the same fate Tyson suffered against Douglas or Ali against Spinks.

If there's one thing that's marked Floyds career, it's inconsistency.

Be silent. Keep your forked tongue behind your teeth. I did not pass through fire and death to bandy crooked words with a witless worm.

Biggest mismatch in the history of boxing PPV.

Has there been a bigger mismatch in boxing history in a big fight/event?

At least Pete Radmecher had an extensive amateur boxing background when he fought Floyd Patterson in his pro debut.

I think Floyd would win easy if he started the fight with a closed eye, fractured hand and migraine...

This is starting to make me think of how everyone said pro boxers might literally kill amateurs if they were allowed into the Olympics.

It's kind of reversed because the pros were the ones that had to adapt to a new game. But simply knowing how to fight and being younger and stronger can mean something. Especially against a 40 year old natural lw that hasn't fought in 2 years.

The 'integrity' of Boxing as a sport....'the Sweet Science'....is on the line with this fight.

McGregor isn't expected to show any impression on Mayweather for one minute of one round....so if he actually does....

I wouldn't go so far as to say McGregor hanging in there would really hurt boxing. Even if he's actually competitive it might hype the mma crowd, but wouldn't really hurt boxing. Floyd losing would be quite a blow. We could only hope Conor allows himself to get killed by a real fighter afterwards.

Boxing is not considered an important sport anymore.
The only reason it hasn't totally disappeared is it has the backing of the International Olympic Committee.

People seeing this matchup are pointing & laughing at boxing as the joke sport involved.
MMA doesn't stand to lose fuck-all from this being as it's prime components (Jiu-Jitsu / Muay-Thai / Wrestling / Taekwondo) are all taught at so many gyms now.
Boxing gyms are all but extinct.

Mayweather has to destroy McGregor or whatever interest or credibility boxing has left will be down to less than what it is now (2-3 big fights per year, 1 or 2 mega fights per year, and hardly anyone will know fuck-all about the two guys involved)

I don't think so. I don't believe so. Conor had his boxing ass handed to him by Nate never boxed Diaz.

The closest to this was the boxing movie where...let me look...The Great White Hype...where they had the champ of the world fighting the guy who gave him his last loss way back in the ams and wasn't a pro fighter.

I don't even put Tyson vs McNeely anywhere near this since McNeely was an unknown and Tyson had been out of commission for so long. McNeely was even ranked top 10 by (I think) the WBC. Conor is just a pure no-hoper. This is more like Roy Jones fighting the guy who won the lottery to fight him.

Mcgregor would wipe his ass with a McNeely level foe, IN a boxing match

Dropping Nate several times is having his boxing ass handed to him?

The FACT MMA's Biggest Draw Had to Acquiesce to a BOXING Match, to Finally Make the Level of Money he Will, Speaks for Our Sports RELEVANCE...

If Floyd were to LOSE, that'd Be a Sizable Blow Indeed, but REED Can't Fathom That Happening...McGregor Beating Floyd would LITERALY Be the Biggest Upset in Boxing History...

From REED's Experience w/MMA Gyms, They Have SHITTY "Boxing" Guys and/or PAY Legit Boxing Dudes to Work on their Fighters Hands...

Boxing's Not Going Anywhere, Bruh...But agREED on Floyd NEEDING to Dispose of Conor Impressively...

The guy is a tool. He list Tae kwon do as one of MMA main component and not boxing, yet anybody who went to a few MMA gym knows you'll always find a boxing coach, and barely never a Tae kwon do one.

And yeah the only reason top pro boxers are paid millions and their fights are watched by millions is because of the barely watched olympic tournament lol

anyway. The fact that White let this fight happens cause he knows it's the only way that MCgregor can cash this kind of money, pretty much prove that boxing is far from dead

Its pretty much fact at this point that wrestling, boxing/kickboxing and jiu jitsu are the keys to being succesful in mma. The 'classic' martial arts are basically useless.

Despite its conclusiveness, I feel that this is still an enormous understatement.

A Muay Thai coach is more valuable/effective than a boxing coach in mma
