    User review from iMDB:

It has been 35 years and the need for a sequel will forever be debated. Was it necessary? No. But was it good? Yeah, really good. Blade Runner 2049 is an epic, in scope, run-time and emotion in the finale. It did the impossible for me too. It made the original even better and was an extremely satisfying conclusion to the original Blade Runner, Rick Deckards story. A masterpiece? I think like the original only time will tell but it is the best movie of 2017 (so far)!

It's a PEFECT sequel. Not claiming that it's best movie of all time as I think the original is overrated but this sequel is justified and deserves good reviews. The music, cinematography, acting, tone, were all just like the original. Recommended.

The film has crash landed upon its release just like the original did and like many of us predicted here. It opened below expectations with $31.5 million, enough to claim the top spot this weekend, but not enough to escape the tag of BOMB. Overseas it did a bit better though with a $50 million opening in 63 markets, but the question is will it spawn 'legs' for the following weeks to at least recoup most of its investment? With a $150 million budget it needs to gross at least $300 to recoup its price tag. Seems like a far fetched goal to be honest unless it has a similar run like Mad Max Fury Road (doubtful).

Furthermore, I remember the original 1982 release fondly...I didn't mind the original voice-over version (Ford despised it and rumor has it, delivered it badly on-purpose) but the re-released Director's Cut is superior...

I'll see it tonight. It took several watches for me to 'get' the original, but that is a great movie. I once bought a card for a girl with Rutger Hauer's tears in the rain quote on it.

I hate to admit this, but I still have not watched it. I can only go to the movies on Saturday's afternoons (I am too damn busy!), but for the last two weekends last minute events have forced me to change plans. I want to watch this film before it gets out of the big screens.

I tried, really tried to go watch it yesterday afternoon, but again got sidetracked and once I jump in my car and drove a little bit I realized I was too late as the screening I could watch was about to start in 17 minutes and I was 40 minutes away. I turned around totally pissed. This weekend is Thor: Ragnarok and even if my car breaks down I am not missing that one.

Apparently it isn’t doing so well relative to its budget and I think that has to do with the marketing of the film. Personally I think it failed the same reason many of today’s films fail which is attributed to how they do trailers now. Instead of doing like the old days where the trailer told you the basic premise of the film, today’s trailers prefer to show you pretty visuals or the coolest shots of the film in hopes that will pique your interest.

In BR 2049’s case they chose pretty CGI visuals and star power, meanwhile I have no idea what the film is actually about hence my lack of interest.

It was very good, they recreated the original's world really well. Was very slow in some parts but the payoff was well worth it. Can''t believe that kunt JIMMY never even saw the first one.

Right here. I have no interest in watching it and I'm not sure why. I never considered Blade Runner as a classic either. Rutger stole the movie and Fords character never really caught me. That and the doddering old fool Ridley pushing the 'Decards a replicant' barrow put me off.

Yep. The best I can give this one is maybe I’ll watch it after it comes on the movie channel. I’m not going to the movies to see it. It’s just baffling to me that the trailer gives you no clue as to what the film is actually about, and here it is several weeks later and I still have no clue.

Watching it now - 30mins in - too fuckin clever and well-produced for today's pig-shit-thick-movie-watching-cunt-generation.

Negatives: way too slow and long...21/2 hrs?!

Terrible fucking movie. Long drawn out scenes which caused an unnecessarily long run time. The movie was confusing to me to the point I wasn’t totally sure of everyone’s motivations. Action sequences were few and far in between. It wasn’t worth sitting through a bunch of slow sequences which didn’t even bother to use good dialogue to placate us with.

If all I’m getting from a movie is amazing visuals then fuck it, I may as well be watching Transformers or Avatar and to be honest I’d rather watch those than sit through this one again.

Totally agreed with lb 4 lb... too fuckin long, confusing, and boring.

I'm not the biggest fan of the original, but the original is better by leaps and bounds. The original is smart and complex WITHOUT being convoluted and pretentious, and original is only 2 hours, which is an acceptable run time.

Not saying I'm opposed to long movies. I'm not this new generation of low attention span teeny boppers.

I'm opposed to long, BORING movies... which this was.
