I guess an upset makes UFC gay.

Thank God there's never been an upset in boxing. Or baseball. Or the NFL.

Picking any reason to hate on the UFC, now that's gay.

If Serra can kill GSP, he can kill Matt Hughes. Hughes looked like sh*t in his last fight anyway and his standup is a complete joke.

What a ridiculous upset. Especially considering it happened on stand up. Shows how limited MMA talent is. Imagine Calzaghe losing to Manfredo

Apples and oranges. Upsets are much more likely to happen in MMA because of the smaller gloves and the lack of a ten count. Tons of top guys have been buzzed in boxing by lesser fighters, but they get a chance to recover and it's far easier to cover up with the bigger gloves.

excuses, excuses  and I'm not talking about MMA per se, but UFC specifically. their talent level has been exposed as average and inconsistent. Not the great talent pool everyone seems to be talking about.

Yeah, there has never been an upset in boxing. All it takes is one punch when you're not wearing gloves.

You guys are just plain crazy. You really need to watch more MMA before you start posting about it. Have you seen GSP fight before? To claim he is limited based on getting caught in one fight is ridiculous. The guy is one of the best welterweights on the planet in any MMA organization.

You people act as if there has never been an upset in Boxing. This was a HUGE upset. This was like Rahman KO'ing Lewis. An obviously less talented fighter just landing the right shot. You guys just look for any reason to hate MMA.

  No way Z. No f*cking way!!!! GSP wasn't all that. He still was trying to make his mark in the UFC. No way he was at the pedigree comparitively of a Lennox Lewis. That was his FIRST title defense, not his 14th. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
As for Serra, the dude's been working on his striking apparently.

True. Although GSP got ko'd by alot of punches. But it's not really comparable to boxing because GSP can't take a knee and a 9 count in order to regather himself from a punch like is done in boxing.

It wasn't a "lucky punch" like lewis - rahman. Serra beat him to the punch and then koed him. He neutralized GSP's reach advantage. Like someone said: "a reality show fighter beating an established champ"

I'm not comparing the level of skill here, just the magnitude of the upset.

There is nobody that I know of or heard that was picking Serra. NOBODY!

First off, I am not comparing the fights at all. Just the magnitude of the upset.

Matt Serra is a veteran fighter. He is a world class grappler and has been around LONG before the stupid show. To call him a "Reality show fighter" is not doing Matt Serra justice. The guy has been fighting for a long time.

Serra is a gate keeper in the ufc. Ofcourse upset is a possibility in his fight with gsp, but i thought it would have been a fluke submission or something not a punch.

You're more likely to see upsets in MMA then boxing, because there are so many more ways to lose in MMA. You can get ko's from punches, kicks, elbows, you can get submitted in numerous ways, etc.

In boxing, styles are limited. It's mostly boxer or slugger, or some hybrid in between. In MMA you have countless different styles, and if a fighter doesn't match up well to a particuliar style, he can lose.

And while Serra was a huge underdog and most people, myself included, didn't think he would win, he is an established fighter as well as a trainer, and is not your typical 'TUF' fighter. I think he was chosen more for his TV friendly personality then because he fit the mold of a fighter desperate for a 2nd chance.

It's not like Dave Jaco Ko'd a prime Holyfield. Anyone who slams the UFC because of this upset is just showing their ignornance.

I hope Serra kills that arrogant f*ck Matt Hughes in similar brutal fashion. Notice how Hughes was all happy and smiling after the GSP/Serra upset? As if he was thinking "Yay, now I'll have a chance to win back the title!"
I hope Serra levels his ass with the same right hand that felled GSP. Hughes' standup is the worst in all of MMA. It's like a 12 year old learning boxing for the first time.

I think it's these kind of possibilities that make the sport so much fun to watch. At the top level these are all dangerous guys that can end a fight quickly if their opponent makes a mistake.

    Wrong.

I never 'hate' on Pride, because I like Pride. I was just pointing out that the UFC Haters\Pride Nuthuggers who bash UFC at any opportunity looked pretty dumb when Nog got upset. I was hating the haters you could say.

It's still pretty sad the way GPS lost his title to Serra. I wonder if he'll ever recover from that brutal loss. Afterall, when you take one to the chin and get KO'd, it can make fighters so cautious and possibly even unsure of themselves which diminishes their chances in future fights.
Hopefully the loss hasn't damaged him psychologically too much.

I'm not sure how many upsets happen in the UFC, but if the odds are good and if you're a gambling man.....

Matt Serra gave BJ Penn all he could handle, I don't understand why everyone had the thought that GSP would steam roll him. Serra and Hughes are two completely different fighters.
