I used to think he was one of the best P4P alongside Fedor until he got submitted easily year. That could be written off as an aberration or bad style matchup. But he looked rubbish against Diaz, like a wild, sloppy brawler.

After Diaz got knocked down he just battered Gomi, gomi looked crap.

And by the way, why on earth was that fight changed to a NC?

I don't think much of Gomi. He was an extremely protected fighter in Pride. Every 2nd fight of his was a non-title fight. Every loss of his, strangely enough, occured in non-title fights. He's pretty much a wild swinger with no real ground game. He got submitted a little while back by Aurelio, and submitted again by Diaz. And I expect him to get his ass kicked a few more times yet.
Diaz tested positive for marijuana, that's why it became a NC. Gomi's no champion in my eyes, just a paper champ.

Man, things aren't looking so good for the "Pride is better than UFC" cheerleaders this year. First it was Gomi getting beat from pilar to post by Diaz, a mediocre UFC fighter albeit a tough one. Then Cro-Cop damn near gets his head kicked off by a short fat Submission specialist.

    I love MMA.

Both are surprising. But to be fair, Diaz can fight. I've quite liked him ever since he bashed lawlor.

I am surprised UFC got rid of him, he's an exciting fighter.

Well, Anderson Silva was mostly a can in Prode, yet, he's lighting the UFC .

Pride used to have the better fighter , and by far, if you couldn't see that, you're an idiot. Now, it's pretty much equal

Give it a rest, this discussion is dead. They both belong to the same owner now.

True, but at the same time the UFC elite are getting their tails whipped too. GSP destroyed by Serra, Rich Franklin who was being hyped getting ravaged by Anderson Silva.
I stopped with the whole "UFC vs Pride" argument a long while back and you probably should too. Pride's talent pool wasn't that deep.
BTW, Gonzaga is a short fat submission specialist???? 6'3", 245lbs is short and fat? The guy looks like a burly powerhouse with heavy hands and some very respectable submission skills. But that's just my opinion.

I was totally kidding Hanzy. If you haven't noticed I'm just trying to get a rise out of people in here lately.

As far as I am concerned no organization as a whole is better than another. It's all about the fighters as individuals. The organization they fight for means nothing.

Lost too many fights, and punched Joe Riggs in the hospital. Hopefully they bring him back, his brother is on the TUF reality show.

I saw his fight against C. Newton, and the commentators hyped him as the best in his weight class, along with DaN Henderson. I think he lost several fights after that, though.

Winner by Choke (WBC) showed me a clip of a Jiujitsu match where Matt Serra completely dominated a bigger Gomi from beginning to end, then submitted him.

I like Gomi's style but he probably won't be anything major

that doesn't say much, as serra a bjj specialist, while Gomi is more of a striker. Still, Gomi mostly a can. An average boxer who couldn't make it in boxing so went to mma
