Houston Alexander(self-confessed basic boxer and part time DJ) vs Keith Jardine(top UFC fighter and #2 contender). Video is here for your enjoyment. 60 seconds long. http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/ufc%2B71/video/x239cc_ufc-71-houston-alexander-vs-keith-j
Everytime Jardine got hit with an uppercut, he fell down only to get back up and take another.....and then another.....:: He fell face down and Houston was standing over him yelling "Whassup now?!?!?!"
wasn't Jardine really disrespectful before the fight, saying Alexander was not worthy enough of an opponent for him?
Yeah, that's what makes it funnier.:: Jardine was acting like he was such hot sh*t just cause he beat that sloppy goofy joke Forrest Griffin. After all this time, I still don't know what Jardine's fighting style is. Is he a wrestler, submission artist, boxer, kickboxer, judoka, what the hell is he? From what I've seen, he's a bar-fighter.
Ref coulda stopped the fight right there and DQ'd Houston. But the fight was so fast paced and brutal, the fans woulda torn the ref a new asshole if he pulled that sh*t. And the UFC would've lost some legitimacy as being as brutal and hardcore as it claims to be. There are so many rules now as it is.
It's in the hands of the ref. That's the UFC's rules. Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg dismissed the knee for whatever reason. I guess because the fight was so high-paced and exciting and gave the UFC fans a major thrill. Afterall, it's all about the excitement in the UFC.
that rule is gay anyway, corny ass ufc rules, no soccer kicks or stomps, but rogan claims thats how people fight on the street
In order for UFC to be sanctioned by any athletic commission, they need to have those rules. And if Pride ever wants to come to the US, they will be using the same rules. (they did once already)
Yeah it hit jardines chest in the replay, although they can still dq him if the ref thought it was done on purpose. 1st time i really saw jardine get dominated. even in his losses he usually gives his opp. a tough fight.
Lennox Lewis would rule in the UFC..you got to hold you're opponent head down...and hit him with the uppercut...
Whatever the reason is, it's ridiculous, stomps, at the most, I could go without, but no kicks on the ground really sucks. And worst of all, they insult our intelligence by giving us bullshit reasons for why it's not allowed, and unbeliveably, a lot of people believe it and are happy that pride is rumored to remove them.
You have to FIGHT in MMA, not peck and run. Floyd's style is just not fitting for MMA. He might win some fights but he wouldn't be elite in MMA.
Just a thought , for a boxer like PBF or any boxer , its allot easier to concentrate on boxing when you are in a boxing match. You have much more thinking ability to pick an choose your punches , movements , and stratagies when you know the only thing your opponent will also be using is his hands ... You never worry "shit is this guy gonna duck down and grab my legs" or "is this guy gonna throw knees when we clinch" so on and so fourth .. Throw in the mix that an opponent can do many more things then just box back at you and you just cut the straight boxers mental capacity in half . He is no-longer just thinking boxing. He is no-longer just thinking about the other guys hands ..
just curious- what was the single highest purse a ufc fighter has been paid EVER? is it even 1/5 of what mayweather made in his last fight?
Dana White would have paid him the same as he made for the Oscar fight if that's where you're going with this. At least that was the offer Dana talked about.
Exactly. These are things people don't think about when claiming a boxer can just go in and KO MMA guys.
Mayweather would've taken Dana's offer if he was a bankrupt sideshow punch drunk boxer with no future left in boxing.
Bums come cheap. He wasn't offering bum money, he was offering Mayweather money. Sure he could get some chump, why would he want to though? Mayweather was the one running his mouth about the UFC, he got called on it and didn't accept the offer. Simple as that. Mayweather was just doing hat he does best, running his mouth.
