absolutely ran through Jens Pulver.....Pulver didnt even look like he belonged in the same cage.....

Penn should stay at 155 and clean house

BJ vs Gomi would be great

Already happened and BJ brutalized Gomi.

I hate Gomi. I think to a major extent, he was exposed by Nick Diaz as a glorified amateur boxer at best with zero ground skill of any kind. Just a wild slugger, he was very protected in Pride. Penn would eat him alive.

Did it look to anyone else besides me that Penn held that choke a little bit longer then he had to after the fight was stopped?

Yep, he sure did. And I've seen it happen many times in MMA.

What about that fool knocking himself out on the undercard.

And Jens Pulver did okay, escaped some tough spots, but BJ is obviously a much better fighter at this point.

BJ definitely gave Jens and extra squeeze when the ref tried to break them.

BJ is the man. He is so good on the ground it's just stupid. The guy is the most flexible dude I have ever seen.

Then Grey Maynard tried to say he was not knocked out! With Joe Rogan right there watching it on the big screen.

"Right there I was tired so I rolled off" - Maynard

Sure, you just rolled off all limp with your eyes closed!! Ha.

"Bro, you were knocked out."

Jens Pulver is a class act, though, he had no ill will towards bj for holding on after the ref stopped it.

Penn is a spoiled rich asshole.

Why should Penn be lauded for beating Pulver? Jen's is and will always been a 100%, balls to the wall fighter....but it's been years since he was relevant.

Penn let Pulver out of the triangle in the first round...clearly he felt in control in there.

Nobody at lightweight could beat BJ...if only Kid was a little bigger...

Great Post - I always thought the same. Weak ass ground game.

Tob e fair he was never protected by pride - He did fight Hansen (loss) Mach (win) Kawajiri (win) and Aurelio (Win and Loss) before Diaz..his belt was proteced not so much Gomi..

Strange to think he fights at a weight akin to Taylor, ODLH etc..

That decision should be over-turned. The guy clearly tapped and the ref waved the fight off over the fighter who tapped.

I don't care if the other guy was out. One guy quit... and the ref (or the UFC) changed the decision afterwards. Fucking BS.

I think NSAC overturend teh decision, not the UFC, nor did the ref.

Penn could dominate lightweight, but that would mean he has to train consistently and maintain his weight. Penn's achilles heel has always been, how should I put it....he's lazy. He probably is the best MMA fighter p4p in the world, but he would rather fight at middleweight where he can eat and be merry at the Luau.

If Pulver goes to WEC and fights at 145, he will be a wrecking ball there. He will just straight up kill those fools.

I assume you are referring to my statement of Penn being the best MMA fighter P4P possibly. Fedor is the Best IMO. Penn has the great ground game, but Fedor's stand up is what sets him apart IMO. Fedor is just a beast. He would ruin the HW's in the UFC.

Almost the same thing happened with Carlos Newton and Matt Hughes. Hughes was out from the choke right as he slammed Newton knocking him cold out. Hughes had to be told he won, he didn't even know what happened. They didn't change it to a NC then and theu shouldn't for this one. Gray Maynard won the fight no doubt about it.

BJ has an outstanding standup game,he's every bit as well rounded as Fedor but what BJ lacks his Fedors commitment to stay successful.

Pulver is garbage at this point. Penn did what he should have. I am not so sure Penn can dominate any weight class considering title fights are 5 rounds.

I'm sure his stamina would improve IF he trained correctly. How much it would improve I don't know but it can't really get worse. For the Jens fight he said he worked on his stamina in camp. He should keep at that.

Maybe so but some guys can train all they want to but just don't have the same gas tank. A guy like ODLH is a good example. He always had stamina issues no matter what despite having a ton of talent, lesser guys had better stamina than him in some cases.

OK, so what means it shouldnt happen again??? Nothing wrong with seeing Gomi get brutalized....

Either way, I'd like to see BJ stay at 155.....

It would be interesting to see what guys would give him the most trouble there....Would it be a guy like Sherk who is a monster, but not the best on his feet? Gilbert Melendez? Mach(who shoulda stayed at the lower weight classes himself)?

he should be lauded just for making 155....A milestone in BJ's career, the first time he's been in shape in years:bears:
