Veteran David “Tank†Abbott will collide with infamous Internet streetfighter Kimbo Slice at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 6 “Heavy Hands†Oct. 12 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J., according to CFFC matchmaker Gary Marino. Once arguably the most feared man in MMA, Abbott (9-13) has lost seven of his past eight fights, including three in a row. He succumbed to Gary Turner by first-round TKO at Cage Rage 21 “Judgment Day†in April and has won only once – a 2005 KO victory over Wesley Correira – since October 1998. Slice, meanwhile, defeated former professional boxer Ray Mercer by guillotine choke submission in an exhibition bout at CFFC 5 in June. As much as I dislike Kimbo, he only has 1 MMA fight and his second being against Tank isn't too bad. He's just starting out, he isn't going to fight any killers.
Here's the entire card... Kimbo v Tank Abbott Ricardo Almeida v Dennis Hallman Derrick Panza v Duke Roufus Devidas Taurosevicius v Chris Ligouri TITLE FIGHT NABC Lightweight Jim Miller v Chris Brennan TITLE FIGHT CFFC Lightweight Marcio (Pe de pano) Cruz v Brandon Lee Hinkle Undercard Mike Littlefield v Jose Rodriguez Jarrid Palmer v John Doyle Malachy Friedman v Anthony Morrison I'm interested in the Liguori and Rodriguez fights, since my brother in law knows them from when he would train down at Pitt's Penn, who they used to fight for. Neither fighter is world class, but they're local guys who usually put on good fights, so I have to root for them. TFK
