Tyson Griffin defeats Thiego Tavarez by UD

Awesome, awesome fight. This fight was proof that MMA fights don't have to be 2 guys throwing bombs to be a great fight. This was mat work and submissions at it's best. Tavarez has some great submissions, but Griffin has unreal submission defense. His spin out of Tavarez's Oma Plata was beautiful.

Early fight of the night candidate.

Machida vs. Nakamura is coming up. Two very good fighters, but this one could be a stinker.

I'll go with Machida by uneventful decision.

    Machida defeats Nakamura by UD

Machida wins by uneventful decision. Lyoto just outclassed Nakamura, who wasn't able to do much of anything in this fight.

Machida is an excellent fighter, he has wins over Rich Franklin, BJ Penn, Stephan Bonnar, Vernon White and others, but he needs to be matched up with someone who is gonna take the fight to him and press the pace.

Jon Fitch beats Diego Sanchez by Split Decision

Decent fight. I thought Diego took the 1st round, and Fitch took Rounds 2 and 3, although they were very close, and I would've had no problem had Diego won the decision.

This is why I've always hated the UFC scoring, they prefer Dominant position(lay n pray with little activity) over the effort to finish the fight? that's retarded.......................and why are boxing judges judging MMA fights Boooo!!!

Rua vs Griffin is up next.

Should be a fun fight. Rua is clearly a better fighter then Griffin. Rua should win, and win decisively.

But I'll pick Forrest by TKO is the 2nd, as there's gotta be an upset tonight, and many of the Pride fighters haven't looked good coming over to the UFC.

I wouldn't put any cash on that bet though.

I have Griffin winning the 1st round. He definitely looks like he belongs in there.

Just as I say that, a minute later Rogan says the same thing.

Quit biting off of my commentary, Rogan.

    Round 2

Griffin is a bloody mess. Shogun looks gassed. Shogun won the 1st half of the round, Griffin the 2nd Half. I always score the round for the guy who finishes strong as opposed to starting strong.

Griffin is looking really good. "Shogun" is really gassed. I think Forrest might have the first two rounds, questionable about the 2nd though. This third round will play a pretty important role in the future of LHW MMA.

A bloodied Forrest Griffin just beat Shogun with about 25 seconds left in the third round by Rear Naked Choke. Absolutely breathtaking, what a performance by Griffin. I'm quite disappointed with Shogun, but very happy for Griffin. "Shogun" simply gassed out. I didn't think I'd ever see "Shogun" tap out, especially to Forrest Griffin.

It's been a good night of fights so far. Tavarez\Griffin was awesome, and Rua\Forrest was a very good fight and a huge upset.

A lot of people bashed this card coming in, but it has been well worth the money.

    Chuck vs Jardine coming up.

I'm gonna pick Liddell by KO in Round 2. I think the fight will start out slow with both fighters feeling each other out.

Liddell will win the 1st Round, and in round 2, Jardine will try and open things up and get nailed with one of Liddell's Hand Grenade looping punches.

Good night of fights so far. I'm also happy I decided to shell out the extra $10.00 order the fight in HD. I fear Jardine's head will land somewhere in the third row. But we'll see what happens.

    TUF > Pride

    At least tonight it does.

UFC 78 in November needs a marquee matchup. Could Rampage\Griffin be in the works?

November might be a little too soon though. But the card is in Newark, and I'll most likely go, and that's a fight I'd love to see live. Frankie Edgar\Spencer Fisher is on the undercard, and that should be a great fight as well.
