if i had a choice, i'd much rather be a UFC fighter than a boxer.

first off, what's the percentage of boxers who make more than 100k per fight?

plus, if you're a UFC fighter, you dont really have worry about bullshit sanctioning fees, managerial/promotional fees and all that.

it's less complicated and more consistent in the long run. that and you get to fight more often.

plus, some of these mediocre bums in MMA are better served than so called journeyman fighters in boxing who pretty much fight for free.

that and a loss isnt all that detrimental to your career as it is in boxing. if you're a prospect and get that first L, your next purse is going down considerably.

Its ridiculous that Jardine was one of the lesser paid fighter on the card, are you sure its not a typo, 14000 for fighting Liddell in the main event is abherant.

Nope, no typo. And I also don't think Jardine was even guaranteed 14K for beating Liddell. I think it was a 7K flat to fight and 7K to win which gives him 14K. If he'd lost, he'd have gotten 7K.

And people give Arum and King hell for exploiting boxers.

White and the "zuffa" brothers are expoliting fighters to no end.

Way less overall talent in MMA= WAAAAAYYYYYY less pay in MMA.

    I hate Dana WHites guts.

I know and understand what Joony says. But paying your main event fighter 7k to fight and 7k more to win is just rediculous. And of course I know that Liddell was the main event and Jardine was just the guy picked from a huge pool of lesser known fighters.

The sad part of it all is the fighters do it because they have no choice. If they want any shot of getting a big payday they have to take the crumbs that Dana White offers.

You win the main even of a PPV show and get paid 14 grand?

    That is pathetic.

From what I've gathered, Jardine is still on his original TUF contract. He signed a contract with the UFC a couple of years ago back when he was relatively zilch on the scene and just another random fighter picked for the TUF reality show. When that contract runs out, his bargaining power will be such that he should be getting A LOT more money. If he continues winning fights, he'll be making major bank.
I remember the same thing was happening with Rich Franklin. Rich made 19K to fight and 19K to win in the first Anderson Silva fight last year since he was still on his TUF contract. When he signed a new contract, he's making 4-5 times that amount.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jardine got a massive bonus on top of his 14K from Dana White.
It's all to do with the contracts they sign. When you're coming up the ranks and making your name, you have to abide by the contract you're signed to regardless of who you beat. It's unfortunate that they can't renegotiate contracts, you have to wait until the contract runs out.:dunno:

You're right. So now it scares me that as a champion he was being paid just 19K for defending his title in like a 3rd or 4th defense. It's true then, Dana White and the Fertittas are f*cking crooks.
I don't know what to say for Jardine now. If Rich as a champ was paid just 19K then maybe it's more to do with the way the UFC's business model works as opposed to these TUF contracts I mentioned.
Maybe Jardine and them really are just getting plain ripped off.:dunno:

No, gatti is right. I made a major mistake, my argument was flawed. I thought Rich was paid so low because he had signed a TUF contract but apparently I was way off. He was paid like a cheap whore while as a CHAMPION because the UFC is a sh*tty business. Nothing more I can say to defend them. Outright crooks run that company.:dunno: They're looking to make a profit and that profit is coming out of the pockets of the men who leave their blood and sweat in the octagon. It's truly a piece of sh*t little company IMO.

He had a bad falling out with the UFC awhile back so that explains why Rich is getting paid peanuts.
