This should be an awesome fight. 205 in the UFC is beyond stacked right now. 2008 should see some incredible fights.

UFC 79 is one bad ass card, best one from the UFC ever and one of the best all combat sport included.

 Good news finally from the UFC. Let's have Sokou vs Houston Alexander. That would be great for as long as it lasts.

the top 3 fights are great, but then is a large drop off in quality. Dean Lister is fighting that guy that got knocked out in like 30 seconds by Drew McFedries.

This is a huge fight for both men and I can't wait. I think both fighters have alot to prove going in this fight.

If Sokjoudu become a force in the UFC at 205, is this a feather in the cap for Pride fighters? Seeing that most Pride fighters aren't doing so well right now in the UFC. Does Sokjoudu truly represent Pride, giving acclaim to the Pride brand as he wins each match inside the cage? Presuming he wins that is.

Nah,he wasn't even in Pride that long and plus he does most of his training in the US so he shouldn't have any problem with the cage and the rules. As for this fight I'm kind of leaning towards Machida,he hasn't fought top comp but I got the feeling he's the real deal........but I've been wrong before though.

Yeah I know but still considering, will Pride fans consider him a Pride fighter? Even if he only had 2 fights in Pride? Is he representing Pride when he fights in the UFC to a lot of the Pride fans in your estimation? Afterall, his fame skyrocketed in Pride, that's where he took off. So possibly he might be considered a Pride fighter.
We know the whole Pride vs UFC thing is a hot topic.

If Machida wins this he should really be in title contention soon. A lot of people find him boring but he is a very good fighter regardless.

the winner should fight the winner of Alexander/Silva, and then the winner of that should get a title shot.

    Sokoudjou/Alexander would be awesome.

what's really great about UFC is that we get only one title/champ per division, thus making the most asked for matches to happen. Just what boxing needs.

There is no central governing body in boxing, it's a worldwide phenomenon with fighters all over the world whereas the UFC is a company run and owned by 3 men. They're running a promotion in a sport. If they had to run the entire sport of MMA, it would be chaos. They could never be able to employ hundreds of fighters AND making each one wait in line for the next title shot.
It's just a completely different affair altogether.
Do you think the 3 guys who control the UFC could run the entire sport of MMA, with every active fighter under their wing? Meaning all their current active fighters mixed in with all the fighters from every other mma organization out there all over the world. And to have only 1 championship belt up for grabs. Do you know how long it would take for fighters to get their shots? Years!!!!! The champ fights once every 6-8 months and meanwhile, there would be 25 fighters all demanding their shot at the same time.

yeah, the UFC is not a sport, it's a company. The sport is called mma, and there is dozens of different organiations, all with their own "world championships". The UFC just happens to be the most popular one.

What? He hasn't fought top competition? I'd say a resume that includes wins over Rich Franklin, BJ Penn, Stephan Bonnar, Vernon White, Nakamura, Sam Hoger, David Heath, among others...is pretty damn impressive.
