I got this from Minotauro's Myspace Bulletin

"In first hand, the fight between Minotauro and Tim Sylvia was signed hours ago, and it will take place in UFC 81, feb. 2nd, in Las Vegas.

Randy did not reach agreements with UFC and the vague title will be disuputed between Minotauro and Tim."

Timmy's gonna die in the cage!!!

If Sylvia wins, it would complete the UFC-Pride raping that has happened this year. I hope Nogueiras skills prevail.

he almost got knocked out by Heath Herring. Sylvia can win this fight, no questions about it.

What reason was there for GSP to lose to Serra, yet he did.

Tim Sylvia represents everything that's wrong with this sport. Sloppy saggy unco-ordinated sacks of sh*t with 2 left feet like Tim Sylvia get exposed and eliminated very quickly in any other sport. But yet in the UFC, this hunk of useless no talent sh*t is a former champion and contender.:dunno:
Maybe they should begin an amateur system in MMA so that kids can come up with experience to make for more polished mma fighters at the pro level.
It'll gain the sport much more respect too. It's really due time to weed out the sh*t and have only the real legitimate fighters competing and performing on ppv.

I think he is underrated, his stand-up is above average by mma standards, and he is so difficult to handle because of his sheer size. He also has been training with a good team for years now. He's a difficult guy to beat.

He's a f*cking joke. His stand up is a f*cking joke too. It only took Grandpa Couture 5 months of boxing training to expose this bum as a complete joke of a striker.
He's slow and lethargic, completely off balance, not intelligent at all, has no ground game, no speed, nothing.
It shows more to do with the crap level of heavyweights out there as opposed to his skill level.
The problem is most heavyweights out there don't take their sh*t seriously, many come unprepared or overweight, most don't have gameplans. Like that idiot Brandon Vera. A f*cking master kicker who wanted to cuddle up to Sylvia on the fence for 3 rounds enroute to making one of the worst fights in UFC history.

so why didn't Monson or whatever sub him in their fight?

His big advantage is that he trains with a team that has many good ground fighters and stand up fighters, he gets the best of both worlds. So, even if he has no real style of his own, he is solid at most facests of the game. He's not a great fighter or anything, but he is very hard to beat for almost anyone.

Because Monson's a lethargic muscle bound 4'8" joke with a 6" reach. And did you see Monson's training camp leading up? It was ALL boxing training, as if the short round f*ck was gonna transform into Muhammad Ali or something and throwing jabs.
Look at Vera. No ground game either, he gets Tim down and does jack sh*t. He holds Tim on the fence and does nothing but hold, no offense or anything. And then in the last 15 seconds of the 2nd round, he slams 4 kicks and that was that. Only 4 f*cking kicks in the whole 3 rounds.:dunno: Even though he vowed leading up he was gonna throw the most amazing kicks which the world has never seen.
It's amazing how many of these clowns talk sh*t but produce nothing when it's time to fight.

Remember when Monsons camp was using a pole with a boxing glove on it so they could adapt to Sylvia's reach

People can hate on Sylvia all they want, they can complain about his look, his 'boring' matches, because he wore the belt in public, etc, but the bottom line is he's proven to be one of the best Heavy's in the world. He's a 2 time Champ and a sure UFC Hall of Famer.

He lost to Randy, but there's no shame in that. He lost to Arlovski, but beat him in the next 2 rematches. He refused to submit against Mir and had his arm broken.

All of the Sylvia haters were sure that Vera was gonna beat him, and Vera got dominated. I wonder what excuses they'll come up with when Sylvia beats Nog?

You don't have to like him, but at least give Sylvia credit where it's due.

 No shame in that????? Did you even watch that fight TFK?!?!?!?!
A f*cking world champion in his prime who talked himself up as being the greatest thing ever got the absolute sh*t kicked out of him by a man in his 40s who was coming off brutal KO defeats in the LH division and along with that a year's inactivity.
Not only tossed all over the octagon like a rag doll, but thrown down on his ass, beaten up both on the ground and outboxed on the feet. The man LOST every minute of that fight over 5 rounds and was completely humiliated. There wasn't any part of that fight which he succeeded in, not even by accident.
Let's get real here. The guy is f*cking sh*t and nothing is going to change that. The fans don't respect him and nobody wants to see him fight.
As for getting his arm broken and not quitting, what does that prove? How many fighters didn't submit in kneebars and instead got their ligaments torn and were forced to do rehab for a year? Hell Noguira almost had his leg snapped off by Josh Barnett but he didn't quit either.
Bottom line is, Tim was a roid abuser with a glass chin and no real skill in any area. He has no redeeming qualities.
    Noguira should handle him.

I think sylvias ground defense is underrated. Monson is a midget compared to other hw , but the dude is strong and is also a good grappler. He cant do anything when sylvia was on his back , instead it was him who almost got submitted. Randy may have owned him ,but i remember in the beg. when randy got his back and cant do anything, especially when you think about the time that randy had to apply a choke on him. randy may have put a mouse on sylvias eyes and really pound him on the ground on the latter part of the fight , but i remember randy having a hard time landing his shot on tims guard, tims grip on his hand gave him problem s aswell ,some of randys shot was short on target.

So Hanzy, who is a good striker in MMA? You seem to always say everyone sucks. Is Fedor the only guy that is good in your opinion?

Striking takes years and years to perfect. You don't get labelled a good striker just because you happened to KO somebody with a punch. Even Fedor has flaws in his stand up, sometimes leaving himself open with a loose defense, ripe for a counter.Tim Sylvia though is not a good striker. It just so happens that MMA still has a lot of garbage competition but that's expected because the sport is still very new. Many Fighters are still coming from the bars.In about 20 years as the sport grows, fighters will train in MMA from a younger age and likely there will be amateur mma programs leading to the professional circuit. Garbage like Tim Sylvia will be weeded out, and only the most athletically gifted fighters will be fighting on the big stage. There are not many good strikers in MMA with their hands. There are good K1 strikers but if we're talking having good hands, there are not many. Chuck Liddell is a good striker by mma standards but even so, his technique is very flawed, throwing punches from angles that would get him exposed quickly as Rampage did when Liddell threw a bodyshot from outside like a novice, Rampage came through with a right hook and dropped him. Few other fighters were able to expose Chuck for his flaws because he was dealing mostly with wrestlers who had very little ability with their hands.

There has been rumors going around that UFC 81 will be aired on CBS, which would be HUGE for the UFC.

If that does happen, I wonder if they would postpone the Sylvia\Nog fight to another card. A card on CBS would be give UFC their biggest audience by far, and could make or break the company. And even though I'm a Sylvia fan, his fights as of late have been uninspired, and 5 rounds of Tim and Nog hugging against the fence in a stinker could do severe damage to the UFC.

If CBS has Sylvia fight on their network they will be begging the writers to come back. The writers should give Sylvia a cut of the money for getting them what they want.
