Cotto, unable to speak clearly through tears and welts, was taken to a hospital from his locker room.
“I am very proud and very happy I was able to give the fans a great fight,â€￾ Cotto said. “Life continues. It’s not over for me. I’m going to take a long rest, decide what to do next. This night was Margarito’s night. He’s an excellent fighter. He did his job better than I did.â€￾

Roll with the Pussies, you got it backwards.:shit:

Margarito was born in America and then moved to Mexico and still lives there.

Not a bad idea. Margarito can live like a king in Mexico if he is smart with his money.

Juanma is the current mexican killer or do you forgot who KO in one round Daniel Ponce De Leon? :boohoo:Still if you count all the major P.R. vs Mexico you guys are still trailing behind. Don't let one single victory elate you so much as to forget the numbers.:notallthere:

technically, it's arguable that calderon has been the best puerto rican fighter all along. hopefully he'll get knocked out too when he fights cazares in a rematch.

Ponce De Leon? He might have been the fifth best at that weight.

Let's see what this punk can do against Vasquez or Rafa Marquez. :crafty:

*Note: I started writing this response earlier. It was long and well researched, but then my pc crashed and lost all the unsaved data. So now I am putting back only a nutshell of that one from what i remember I wrote.*

On the Mexico vs Puerto Rico rivalry what needs to be counted are major championship bouts in which (a) is a champion vs champion unification bout (b) current champion moving up in weight challenging the other champion (c) championship elimination bout to decide a new champion (d) a contender who defeats the current champ (e) not counted will be the champion successfully defending against a mere contender, no matter if later that contender later becomes a champion against someone else.

    Mexico over Puerto Rico

    1. Jose 'Pipino Cuevas vs Angel 'Cholo' Espada
    2. Salvador Sanchez vs Wilfredo Gomez
    3. Jose luis Ramirez vs Edwin Rosario II
    5. Julio Cesar Chavez vs Edwin Rosario
    6. Julio Cesar Chavez vs Hector Camacho
    7. Ricardo Lopez vs Alex Sanchez
    8. Marco Antonio Barrera vs Daniel Jimenez
    9. Antonio Margarito vs Kermit Cintron II
    10. Antonio Margarito vs Miguel Angel Cotto

*there was one more for Mexico I can't remember now*

    Puerto Rico over Mexico

    1. Wilfredo Gomez vs Carlos Zarate
    2. Wilfredo Gomez vs Guadalupe Pintor
    3. Hector Camacho vs Rafael Limon
    4. Wilfredo Vazquez vs Raul Perez
    5. Wilfred Benitez vs Carlos Palomino
    6. Edwin Rosario vs Jose Luis Ramirez I
    7. Hector Camacho vs Jose Luis Ramirez
    8. Eric Morel vs Martin Castillo
    9. Felix Trinidad vs Oscar DeLa Hoya
    10. Felix Trinidad vs Fernando Vargas
    11. Daniel Santos vs Antonio Margarito
    12. Ivan Calderon vs Hugo Cazares
    13. Juan Manuel Lopez vs Daniel Ponce De Leon

*damn I can't remember three other bouts now, but it was PR = 16, Mexico = 11*

panchy, sorry but this is bullshit. you need to count every fight involving a major title, so antonio margarito vs cintron 1 counts too.

In that case half of Wilfredo Gomez title defenses against mexican contenders, like Rubaldino, Mesa, Lopez, etc. count too as well as all the others. We will never finish the count. :nono:

In that case neither Cintron nor Camacho are puerto ricans. If you call yourself mexican, you are mexican. If you call yourself puerto rican, then you are. Yeah right, everybody knows that Vargas & Oscar are proud of their colombian heritage.:boohoo:

I thought Cintron was born in Puerto Rico.

Margarito wasn't born in Mexico, though he lives there now.

I don't have the time to waste on this just to please some posters here. It will be a monumental task that no one wants to do. But you are welcome to do it yourselves.

My point was that if Vargas and DeLaHoya whom both have always claimed to be proud mexicans and their fights against Trinidad were advertised as another Mexico vs Puerto Rico bouts, doesn't count as mexicans then neither Camacho nor Cintron for that matter since they barely lived there at any certain point of their lives. If we use the same logic for Vargas & DLH, then Margarito is not mexican.

Looks like a rather lackluster list, oh and BTW Eric Morel was dominated by Martin Castillo. I can assure you that is nowhere near complete. The criteria of that list is junk.

I'm surprised Cotto didn't apologize to the PR people or even just his fans in general.

This is why I stopped posting here. There are literally ten people who have met me from this board and everyone one of them knows I am 100% heterosexual. I am far too germ phobic to fuck anything in the ass. Fucking Matchup analyzer calls me "Monk" for christ sakes. You all need to grow up. Why is it funny to call a straight man gay. I am an educated man. I am not an uneducated trog. Being gay is genetic. If I were gay, I would say so. Why are you such a homophobe. I got news for you Cotto is clearly gay and he is your hero. Watch the countdown show.

Are you disputing Cotto quit? I would say taking 2 knees and running from an opponent is objectively quitting.

at the press conference for the fight arum mentioned that puerto rico held a decided edge over mexico in head to head champion vs champion fights. he said fernando beltran (morales' and many other mexicans promoter/manager) was the guy arum said compiled it and I believe it was something like 39-23
