Was just thinking about this today. I think most people want to see Floyd and Manny fight next, but what if they were to both move up to fight Sergio Martinez and Paul Williams, respectively, and then provided they both win that fight, THEN match up and I think the fight could be even bigger.
It's hard to imagine the fight being any bigger than it could be right now, but barring them matching up immediately, I think this is the best case scenario for their next fights.
There's really no one left at welter for either of them that does anything for them. Moving up to the next division and taking on legit guys there, could be solid matchups.
And for once, I don't think Floyd would be the foregone conclusion as winning.
I don't think Paul Williams stands a chance against Manny, due to Manny's speed and relentlessness.
I think Floyd has a very good shot at beating Martinez, but as long as Martinez doesn't go below 154, and he's said he won't for any amount of money, then I think Sergio definitely has a shot at beating Floyd.
That'd be a nice doubleheader they could put on. Can you imagine the PPV #'s if those two fights were put on the same night?
A Double Header with Floyd vs. Sergio and Manny vs. Paul would do at LEAST 1.5 million buys, I think. Appart, they probably do about a million each, if that. But together, that'd be a helluva ppv card. Add a few decent undercard fights, and that's a PPV that you really can't argue against buying. For once.
