Anderson Looks Pissed Off...

I'm picking Silva. Chael has some great TD's, but then what? He doesn't have real damaging GNP, he's not a guy known for finishing fights even when he's winning. Silva has good enough submissions to where Sonnon won't be completetly safe even if he gets a takedown. I don't think Sonnen can finish Silva and I don't see Sonnen being able to avoid either being KO'd standing or subbed in a full 25 minute fight.

Not being able to finish Silva is my biggest fear with picking Sonnen. The idea of being in the cage with someone as dynamic as Silva for 25 minutes is scary.

But I stuck with my pick for one reason. Silva hasn't finished anyone during his UFC run after 2 rounds. Cote went 3 but injury stopped him not Silva. So if Sonnen makes this a ground war and avoids a KO or submission for 2 rounds while making Silva work, who knows what Silva can do after that.

We saw him fade against Maia in a fight that had little drama. So I honestly think Sonnen can wear him down and take it beyond 2 rounds. After that I think Silva will be less dangerous in almost all aspects.

And again, Sonnen is hands down the best wrestler Silva has ever faced.

Jon Fitch is one of my favorites so I am taking him again.

Is there anyone that doesn't want to see Roy Nelson win? I just love this big fat dude with a mullet being interviewed after fights. That being said, Dos Santos knocks him out in the 2nd.

It's the main event of a PPV. Sonnen is going to be interviewed much more often than normal, and a guy with a mouth is of course going to have the time to have even more to say.

I think the UFC is behind Sonnen's smack talk. I think they knew he would talk shit but told him to take it to the extreme. Fans are down on Anderson right now, if they hate Sonnen more than Anderson and he destroys Sonnen like he should it will restore the luster he's lost.

Hendo is world class Greco Roman, but that doesn't do much for you on the ground or takedowns. Hendo's strength is in the clinch which is where everything transpires in Greco. Sonnen is a collegiate wrestler where the strengths lie in takedowns and ground control. Different styles of wrestling.

Yes, it's true. You were not right. Sonnen gave him all he could handle for 4.5 rounds. That's better than anyone has EVER done against Anderson. If Sonnen avoided that triangle, he would have won a decision.

And the truth is that none of what Sonnen said pre-fight ended up being hype. He took the fight to Silva. He made Silva work harder than he's had to work in his entire UFC run.

He fell short due to his biggest weakness and the greatness of Silva.

But he definitely showed why people were legitimately picking him. His wrestling is better than anyone else at 185 and his top control is amazing.
