Don't think you can expect them to give him much of an opponent on an undercard.

Vera's a knockoutable Texan...would seem to make sense.

Maybe Cotto since Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has run for the hills and will be facing fellow mexican boxer, former Cotto victim AND safe-opponent Alfonzo Gomez for the WBC Silver middleweight belt on December 11. Maybe Cotto can face Pavlik. It will be a mismatch, but at least Cotto has enough cojones to fight anyone.

wait. what's the evidence that he can't handle lateral movement or hand-speed? is it because he lost two fights, one of which was very close, the other one taking place at 175 where he'd never fought before?

Whether he can or can't isn't necessarily the deciding factor in matching him up with someone made-to-order for November 13.

But that said... when HAS he proven that he can deal with either attribute?

Taylor has hand-speed. He beat him twice. And while Taylor isn't known for his movement, he did attempt to box Pavlik unsuccessfully in both fights.

Also, although he lost to Martinez, he was very much in the fight. Despite Martinez's hand-speed and movement.

I think the question you're really asking is, when has Pavlik proven he can beat Martinez and Hopkins. And the answer is, he hasn't.
