Don't think you can expect them to give him much of an opponent on an undercard.

Vera's a knockoutable Texan...would seem to make sense.

Maybe Cotto since Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has run for the hills and will be facing fellow mexican boxer, former Cotto victim AND safe-opponent Alfonzo Gomez for the WBC Silver middleweight belt on December 11. Maybe Cotto can face Pavlik. It will be a mismatch, but at least Cotto has enough cojones to fight anyone.

wait. what's the evidence that he can't handle lateral movement or hand-speed? is it because he lost two fights, one of which was very close, the other one taking place at 175 where he'd never fought before?

Whether he can or can't isn't necessarily the deciding factor in matching him up with someone made-to-order for November 13.

But that said... when HAS he proven that he can deal with either attribute?

Taylor has hand-speed. He beat him twice. And while Taylor isn't known for his movement, he did attempt to box Pavlik unsuccessfully in both fights.

Also, although he lost to Martinez, he was very much in the fight. Despite Martinez's hand-speed and movement.

I think the question you're really asking is, when has Pavlik proven he can beat Martinez and Hopkins. And the answer is, he hasn't.

Nah Eduard is out. Now Vera is the front runner. Thats a better matchup anyway. Even though Vera has no chance, he'll at least last more rounds then Edouard.

No....based on how noncompetitive he was in those 2 losses. Hell ....Kelly's biggest wins of his career are his wins over Taylor. Taylor has wins over much better competition than Pavlik.....and Taylor sux too.

Pavlik doesnt "suck", but his problem is of course he's one dimensional as hell, and his confidence has never recovered from the Hopkins fight. It doesnt help his cause that 3 best guys at 168 are Bute, Ward, and Dirrell, all 3 whom have the style to beat Kelly's ass 6 ways from Sunday.

After he's done with Vera, he better be done with these smaller men. Fight at least a guy like Andrade after that. Librado would be a good guage for truly what Pavlik has at 168, and what he has left overall. Or maybe he can try his luck vs the loser of AA-Froch.

Taylor doesn't suck and Pavlik was competitive with Martinez.

He didn't really try to outbox him in the first fight. The 2nd fight yes and he didn't have the stamina to keep it up.

Pavlik is a really clumsy guy with his feet and not very fast with his punches. A slick boxer who can counter and stay at angles will always equal defeat for him.

He made a bit of a rally with Martinez, but Sergio is a guy that he probably can't beat no matter what.

Taylor has ALWAYS Been Near the BOTTOM of the "Fighters with Handspeed" List...Moreso, his Footwork has ALWAYS Been Mechanical & Deliberate...The Hopkins & Martinez Losses CLEARLY Illustrates a STYLISTIC SIMILARITY that Pavlik Struggles w/....

Yeah Vera does have heart, but make no mistake.... its still gonna be an execution. Kelly would have to be on his death bed to lose to a guy like Vera.

As a fighter he had good hand-speed. Fast enough to give Hopkins all kinds of problems.

The question I was answering was, "when has Pavlik proven he can deal with hand-speed." The answer is simple: when he beat Taylor twice. There's no debate here. I never said he was the fastest fighter, or even that among fast fighters, he's among the fastest. Kris! Just admit it - it's not fair or correct to say that Pavlik can't handle guys with hand-speed because he's proven he can.
