Huge, 250lb, 6'7" modern behemoth (but limited) vs the much smaller all time great from 100 years ago. Who wins?
I think these type of threads have been well covered recently. Everybody will say 'Grant with ease since he knew how to throw a proper punch without half falling over'. Then Ramonza will chime in saying he's shocked since Jack Johnson is an all time great and Michael Grant never even won a title. Grant, obviously.
Grant's downfall was his lack of technical abilities, yet his technique was supreme compared to anyone who fought at Johnson's era, and his physical abilities were formidable. Grant wins in very easy fashion
So? This is like a James Bond movie - you know what will happen but it is still entertaining :kidcool:
By the way, was Jack Johnson the ugliest heavyweight champion ever after Carnera? That's one oddly shaped skull. If you created it on fightnight create a champ, it'd look like a program glitch. Any other contenders?
Didn't Valuev have some disorder that made his skull super thick? Kinda a real world correlate to Homer Simpson syndrome or some shit. I'm not sure he should have been allowed to compete, that seems like an unfair advantage to me.
Nah, top level sports are all about being exceptional in physical sense. Next you could ban Pacquiao for being so damn fast that it is unfair. Also, considering Valuev never even became a champ it isn't a big problem anyway
Grant easy cmon. If Grant fought in the black and white era he would be considered an all time great.
Michael Grant in the era of 4 ounce gloves is still a recipe for disaster, mind. Jack Dempsey for instance would still probably knock 9 of his teeth out.
As I have said a million times before, Jack Dempsey changed the game, especially the heavyweight game... that hit-and-hold, one punch at a time stuff that Johnson excelled at and the best fighters of his time excelled at has no place against someone who knows how to move his head and his feet and throw in combination... Jack Dempsey kills Jack Johnson and despite being half his size, he would have a shot against Grant Grant knocks the shit out of Jack Johnson, setting it up with this futuristic thing called a "jab"
"WHAT IS THIS DEMONRY!!!!????", shout the sportswriters of Johnson's time upon seeing the strange, quick-moving lead punch::
Johnson? Grant? I never rated either of 'em. They can have each other (& it would be a hideous fight, too). The ugliest fight I've ever heard anyone mention on a forum involving two fighters from different eras would be Rahman against Carnera, but this one is a contender.
Still I don't care what anyone says...Grant was so exceptionally bad (worst balance I've ever seen in a championship fight) that I'd pick Johnson to beat the lumbering giant.
