Default Reason to Celebrate Starting Next Weekend...

Next Saturday (Feb. 4th) marks the first of 8 consecutive weeks of boxing on either HBO or Showtime!!! That's reason to celebrate. That's reason to be thankful.

You'd like to see the quality be a little better, but it's nice to have figts on a regular basis, and some of the fights are pretty promising.

    Feb. 4th (grade: C+)
    Chavez Jr. vs. Rubio
    Donaire vs. Vazquez Jr.

    Feb. 11th (grade: B)
    Ortiz vs. Berto II
    Lara vs. Hearns

    Feb. 18th (grade: C)
    Williams vs. Ishida
    Cloud vs. Campillo

    Feb. 25th (grade: B)
    Maidana vs. Alexander
    Broner vs. Perez

    March 3rd (grade: C-)
    Gamboa vs. Juarez

    March 10th (grade: B-)
    Salido vs. Lopez II
    M. Garcia vs. Farenas

    March 17th (grade: B-)
    Martinez vs. Macklin

    March 24th (grade: B+)
    Morales vs. D. Garcia
    Kirkland vs. Molina

Not a single fight I want to see other than Berto Ortiz 2. FUCK BOXING FUCKING SUCKS. No wonder the homosexual UFC is so popular. People would rather watch two stupid, uneducated, pieces of trash, simulate homosexual acts in a cage than never will be's, midgets that no one cares about and no name losers fighting on a premium network.

    FUCK BOXING.

Still, you have to be excited about the number of fights being shown. No? There's nothing worse than a weekend with none. I'd much rather have the likes of Salido/Lopez II than nothing at all. If you don't agree with that, I'd have to question your status as an actual boxing fan.

Some are obviously shitty. Lara/Hearns? Give me a break. But if all you see on that list worth watching is Berto/Ortiz II? You're clearly not a real boxing fan.

No I'm not! I'm just not letting expectations based on past garbage cloud my judgement. When you consider that fights like Pacquiao/PBF and Wlad/Vitali are A+, it's pretty hard to give any of these match-ups anything higher than a B.

I don't know how good any of the fights will be but i look forward to seeing Donaire, Gamboa, Cloud and Broner fight.

Hopefully we at least get to see a few highlight reel type knockouts.

I would add the Salido rematch and especially the Maidana fight. I hope Maidana provides the highlight reel ko you are looking for, too.

I doubt a fight involving Alexander will be exciting. He'll probably win via stinky UD.

Some decent fights there, not a huge fan of the sub 135lbrs myself, but the feeling that there is something worthy to tune into/stream into....is always a welcome feeling.

Now. Do you mean actually win? Or perform in similar fashion as against Mathysse, and then be awarded a gift? Is the fight in St. Louis, do you happen to know?

Thing that pisses me off about this fight, and I think we've discussed it, is that it's happening at 147, which in my opinion favors Alexander and is to Madaina's disadvantage. Madaina's strength and stamina seem optimal at 140 - I'm not clear why he's moving up. Alexander, on the other hand, is clearly weak at 140 and his stamina is shit. Why should Madaina move up? Why doesn't Alexander fight another welterweight? In this way, the deck is clearly stacked against Madaina from the moment the fight was made.
