I don't think I've ever seen the guy fight before so what do you guys think ? Who does he beat in the UFC middleweight division and who he doesn't ?
he's an olympian judoka and an explosive puncher. he's also very fun to watch. i think he'd knock most guys out at middleweight, but we'll see.
He's pretty exciting, who knows how he will do. The UFC MW's are a hell of a lot better than Bellator's. I guess we will see if he's the real deal. They should give him Brian Stann first. Should make for a good fight.
very good. most judo based guys are hard to take down. if you've seen him fight though, you wouldnt even notice that that was he was grappler first. he usually goes out there and tries to knock people's head off.
That's good. One thing I can't stand is an exciting stand up fighter with no TDD. How would you say his stand up compares to that of Stann and Vitor ? Also how is his chin ?
Lombard is a solid fighter and I've been impressed with how he's handled over matched opposition in Bellator. There is literally no way of knowing how he will compete with the top guys. I think he'll do well in the UFC but crushing Trevor Prangley or Joe Doerkson doesn't mean he'll beat Brian Stann or Vitor Belfort. As Z said, Stann-Lombard is a great potential first match for Hector. And it will tell us all we need to know.
there's a quick article on lombard on espn.com. dont feel like looking up the scribe's name at the moment, but he pretty much thinks that lombard's no better than belcher or palhares, which i think is a crock of shit. especially belcher. i think lombard lights him up quickly.
From what I've seen of Lombard, he's scary, really scary. But he may just be a can opener who looks great vs overmatched foe and fumbles vs upper echellon guy's. I don't think he is though.
It's noteworthy to consider that Lombard is the only man to beat Ebersole ( who's on a 3 win streak in the UFC, at ww though) in the last 5 years
Great fight. We will learn quickly if Lombard is a contender. The good thing is that he likely won't look to use his grappling advantage. He'll stand and bang with Stann.
damn, what a tough first fight. i was expecting a dan miller or aaron simpson type guy for his debut. either way, it should be explosive.
Palhares looks like he sweats them. I like it when short stocky guys do well and I like guys who can do leg locks, but I just can't forgive Palhares for his blatant unsportsmanship against Drwal.
