For one thing I don't recall much promotion. On top of that a film like this has a hard time drawing interest from its trailer. In fact I initially had no interest in seeing this after watching the trailers but the constant glowing reviews changed my mind. It was the same situation with The Fighter.
I thought this movie blew the fighter away. Nolte & Hardy we just terrific together. And i hate Nick Nolte
As much as I enjoy watching Hardy - Bale is pretty awesome in his portrayal of Dicky Eklund. The warrior is a brilliant movie shame more people didnt catch this one..
bale was good. I thought Nolte was better. Bale was better than hardy tho. The scene where Nolte got drunk i could barely watch him it felt so real.
You can get netflix in the UK and Ireland - however it's pretty bad. They do not have the same selection as Netflix US. You can trial it for a month, completely free and see what you think. I believe lovefilm is better in the UK but I cannot confirm this as it's not available over here
the movie is ok pretty cheesy though with the war hero stuff and in family dramas The Fighter shits all over it
i thought this was gonna be about "warrior" <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cF4ZTcuhixc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Both are good movies. But, I hate to say this as a boxing lover/UFC hater, but Warrior was a slightly better movie.
I know I'm behind but I finally got around to watching Warrior last night. It was a great movie. The ending was totally unrealistic based on MMA rules but its just a movie and these things happen.
in the sequel, the older brother should rematch the Fedor-like character and get hurt really bad, then Tom Hardy should step in to fight Fedor.
There will be no sequel since the film was a box office dud. Warrior it is a very entertaining movie in the same vein as Rocky (from underdog to a title fight). The comparison with The Fighter is way off since 'Fighter' is a drama based on a true story and was executed as realistic as possible. "Warrior" is just an action popcorn movie that manipulates the viewer to cheer and thrill. The acting was good, but nothing to get Academy Award nominations. The war veteran deserter angle and ending was a little too melodramatic for my taste in an otherwise very good film.
Warrior was indeed a pretty damn good movie. In fact I would say it's the second best MMA movie ever made. Right behind Broke Back Mountain.
Box office numbers don't always matter if studios realize a film develops a big following post theater with DVD sells/rentals and word of mouth the way Warrior has. Still I don't think it's the type of film that would have a sequel.
If they make a sequel it will be straight to DVD movie with different actors playing the same characters.
Warrior can be considered a cult movie already, I don't see why they couldn't make a sequel. It didn't perform well at the box office during it's theatre run but it was after it's DVD release that people started noticing it.
