    Default Strikeforce: Rousey-Kaufman 8/18/12 Showtime

Looking forward to this one. With Rousey it's very simple. She is 5-0 in her pro career after going 3-0 as an amateur. All 8 wins are via armbar in the first round. If she gets Kaufman on the ground, it's as good as over.

Kaufman is one of the top strikers in women's MMA. And her takedown defense is decent. Her lone loss, however, was via armbar to Marloes Coenen.

The Jacare-Brunson fight should also be interesting.

    Main card (Showtime)
    • Bantamweight Championship bout: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Sarah Kaufman
    • Middleweight bout: Ronaldo Souza vs. Derek Brunson
    • Welterweight bout: Tarec Saffiedine vs. Roger Bowling
    • Middleweight bout: Lumumba Sayers vs. Anthony Smith
    • Light Heavyweight bout: Ovince St. Preux vs. T.J. Cook
    Preliminary card (Showtime Extreme)

    • Bantamweight bout: Miesha Tate vs. Julie Kedzie
    • Lightweight bout: Bobby Green vs. Matt Ricehouse
    • Middleweight bout: Adlan Amagov vs. Keith Berry
    • Featherweight bout: Hiroko Yamanaka vs. Germaine de Randamie

    54 seconds. Amazing.

It's kind of like Royce Gracie and the RNC in the early days of the UFC.

Yeah this girl is fucking great with that Arm bar. And then she called out Cyroid. I would love to see that.

    Yes, obvious.

Apparently the NSA almost granted her a TRT exemption. Luckily they realized at the last minute that she was supposed to be a chick.

By the way, not sure if Rousey coined the term or not, but "Cyroid" is a great nickname.

That was one of the better "call-outs" in MMA history.

"Guyborg" was a good one too. I'd love to see this fight if they do some extra drug testing in the months leading up to the fight.

can cyborg even make 135? rousey mentioned that there will be no match at catchweight. anyways, rousey is a superstar, but i wonder if she'll be as good if there were more former olympic judokas around in women's mma.

That's a great question. Rousey's armbar and, her ability to get into position to apply it, is amazing. However, it all starts because her judo has allowed her to quickly get all her opponents to the ground. And she almost always hits the ground in mount or side control.

But her ground game is solid all around. Mesha Tate, who is a very good female wrestler, actually had Rousey's back on the ground for about 30 seconds. But Rousey was able to get back to her feet and get her own take down.

Funny considering the armbar, but the thing that was probably most impressive about the win over Kaufman was Rousey popping a triple jab and a right cross to start the fight. It helped her close the distance immediately.

I think a catch-weight fight at 140 would be fair. It would force Cyborg off the juice for sure.

Personally I'd prefer Cyborg never fight again. She has used an unfair advantage to really beat up other women. Steroid advantage for women is far different from men.

Great card considering I follow MMA quit a bit and didn't know half the names on it. Meisha Tate pulled out a good win but was getting her ass handed to her early on. She's not ready for Rousey, maybe not ever.

Rousey looked great again, completely dominated one of the best in her division. I thought Kaufman might have a chance if she could drag the fight into the later rounds. Rousey's chin and stamina has yet to be tested. Cyborg will fit the bill there if they can agree on a weight to meet. I think a catchweight 140 fight is suitable for no title.

Jacare looked damn good, time for him to meet up with Rockhold again. I think Rockhold pulls out a narrow win in the next fight. Rockhold is a bad dude.

I honestly can't see that Rousey stands much chance against Cyborg. Its easy to get wrapped up in Rousey's hype and she's certainly had some impressive wins with that signature armbar, but Cyborg is a MUCH more well rounded fighter that's been tested in all areas, Rousey's chin and stamina are still big question marks. I think Cyborg beats the living shit out of Rousey if they ever meet. I don't see Cyborg getting taken down so easily and she's a very well accomplished in BJJ as well. Rousey will likely not have a strength advantage over Cyborg either as she's enjoyed over her other opponents. Cyborg is bigger, stronger, more athletic and much more skilled in all areas. I want to see the fight, but I don't see Rousey having a good chance of winning.

Well, she's not half bad looking which helps and she runs her mouth a lot. The media eats it up.

I really can't comment on a potential Rousey-Cyborg fight until we see Cyborg fight under strict drug testing. Up until this point, everything she's done and everyone she has beaten is meaningless.

You talk about a strength advantage for Cyborg, which is definitely true. However, that strength has been unfairly gained.
