American Reunion (2012)- The fourth chapter in the American Pie saga returns to form which was badly lacking in "American Wedding". All the original actors are here, even if only for flash cameos. Not much to say about the plot since the title says it all: our beloved gang is back and even if they are no longer teenagers they will be involved in funny sexcapades. Eugene Levy continues embarrassing his son (Jason Biggs) as usual. It was a nice reunion, but the ladies (Mena Suvari, Hallyson Hannigan & Tara Reid) look really old for their age. Tara Reid looks great, but you can see the wrinkles around her eyes and she is just, what? 34? Mena Suvari is like 34 too but looks like 45. The one that still looks great, though she was in a 'if-you-blink-you'll-miss-her' cameo, is Shannon Elizabeth, who ironically is the oldest one (will be 40 this year). I was expecting to see more of her..ehem.. Like the film reunion, watching this film to me felt like reuniting with good old friends. I was entertained, even though it is still a formulaic film like the previous films. The last line, by the start of the end credits, says it all: "Oh GOD!!!...this is a very good movie..." 8/10
Good lord Panchy...................and you thought "Seven Psychopaths" and "In Bruges" was trash. This whole series was trash. The first one was the closest to passable but was nothing more then a very poor mans prime Farrelly Brothers comedy.
8/10 ??? You crazy dude you KRAZY with a K! THat's like double crazy with whipped cream on top I think the right thing to do with that movie would have been to have everyone walk off the set half way through shooting it saying what are we doing with our lives... 3/10 or something like that.
I agree that as a whole the entire franchise was shit and the last one was closer to a 5 rather than an 8. However, I always really enjoyed the first one and thought it was a well balanced movie/comedy. I'm actually surprised to hear so many people here didn't like the first one, as I thought it was a borderline classic.
I am sure that most of the posters commenting here have not even watched this last film, but still call it trash. I gave my rating based on one factor: entertaintment...and it did entertained me. Seven Psychopaths and In Bruges were snorefests to say the least. I can be bored all by myself without the need of watching extremely hyped overrated films.
Check the old reviews here. Nobleart gave it a 9/10. I gave it a thumbs down and received an avalanche of bash for it. http://fightbeat.com/forums/showthread.php?16070-The-old-Movie-thread/page133
i thought this one was better than the previous one. plus, it brought back the entire cast from the first one.
I stand by my default position regarding Pantypisss's intellect The first American Pie movie was one of the sorriest pieces of shit I've ever seen... I caught half of the second one and contemplated suicide
Too bad you didn't go through with it. :: Sorry, but as much as I like you as a poster, I hate it when people have differing opinions than me.
In retrospect, yeah, that movie was a joke...on all of us who were fooled by some critics stating it was any good.
